3 ATHLETICS Karen s Corner 50 and Feeling Fine So many times I have heard men and women moan that they are now old because they have gone over the 50 age mark. Nothing could be further from the truth! I kept thinking when I turned 40 that this is the last of my good years and should get prepared for over the hill at 50. Now that I have turned 50, I know things are changing, however I feel great and I attribute it to consistent exercise and good eating habits. I have had many clients with high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes that have been able to change their life after 50 because of their renewed dedication to living a healthier lifestyle. It is never too late to change your life habits to improve your health. Fifty is nifty and you can be fit over 50! I welcome any questions on how to change your life to a healthier one. Please or call me at any time or krose@theviningsclub.com TEAM VININGS WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM: The start date for the next 6 week program is Monday, October 12th. Sign up for every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday either at 7:00am, 10:00am or 6:30pm. Please register by Monday, October 5th at the Athletic Desk. Rave Reviews for Karen s Cookbook Members give Two Thumbs Up to our fitness director s cookbook collaboration. Recipes included are extremely healthy, tasty, easy to make and designed for busy people. Meals have a preparation time of 30 minutes or less with easy-to-follow directions. Thanks to our Members and Staff for sharing their favorite recipes and making the project so special. The cookbook is available at the Athletic Desk for $12.00, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to The Devereux Center. Race For The Kids 2009 A Huge Success! I would like to thank our many members and employees of The Vinings Club who helped in the Race For the Kids held by The Vinings Rotary this year. Without our volunteers, it wouldn t be possible for this race to run as smoothly as it does. This year, there were over 800 people involved in the race including runners and volunteers-raising in excess of $49,000 for the Calvary Children s Home, The Good Samaritan Health Center, and The Vinings Rotary Charity Fund, Inc.
