7 on Staff Like all of the staff at WLJT, Producer/Director Ben Wolski has many duties in addition to the ones listed on his job description. Certainly he is one of the best production people and directors in West Tennessee but he is also a whiz at websites, editing, and a master of all sorts of electronic tasks and tricks. Wolski is a unique talent with a great propensity for all things required to keep WLJT fresh and up-to-date in the broadcasting world. For example: all of the lettering you see running at the bottom of WLJT s screen is put there by Wolski. The little WLJT logo on the bottom right of your screen (called a bug) was inserted by Wolski. There are many things you see on WLJT that you may or may not notice that Wolski is responsible for. Born in Mesa, Arizona, Wolski is the fourth of five siblings. In the seventh grade, his family moved to McKenzie, Tennessee. As can be imagined, McKenzie was a big change from Mesa. But, Wolski thrived here. Going to school in McKenzie, he graduated McKenzie High School.but not before fate intervened. At one of McKenzie s home basketball games, when he was a senior, an announcement was made asking for a volunteer to man one of the WLJT cameras recording the game. Wolski, who had no experience in television, was the first to volunteer. The next year, when Wolski had been accepted at UT Martin, he applied for a crew position at WLJT sighting the experience he had from the year before. Without pause, he was awarded the job. He has been with WLJT ever since. While working here, he also completed his studies at UT Martin, majoring in Communications with a Broadcast Specialty and a minor in Spanish. Also while employed at WLJT, Wolski married his lovely wife DeAnn, a Special Education teacher. He is also the proud puppy-daddy of two exuberant Boxers Kizer and Peaches. Their family of four live in Martin. Five fun questions As a child, when I grew up, I wanted to be: First a lawyer, then a baseball player, and finally an accountant. My favorite childhood memory is: Being on a parade float when I was a kid. I think I was a fisherman. As a child, my favorite PBS KIDS program was: Sesame Street. I was a big Oscar the Grouch fan. The best thing about living in West Tennessee is: The laid back atmosphere. It just fits my personality. The thing I enjoy the most about working at WLJT is: We have a lot of work hour flexibility. We also learn a lot of new things through our jobs. day, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. Christmas Day at 8 a.m. Christmas Day at 11 a.m. urday, Dec. 29 at 8 a.m. To Our Rocky T Birthday Club Members Xavier from Union City Claire from Jackson Avery from Trimble April from Newbern Dorothy from Dyersburg If you d like for us to help celebrate your child s birthday go to WLJT s website at and click on Rocky T s Birthday Club to find out how to get your Rocky T Family Membership. Not only will we wish your child a happy birthday all month long, we will also send them a birthday fun pack with stickers, coloring sheets and other fun PBS Kids stuff!
