During this reporting period, a sign up sheet has been available for interested organizations representing potential job candidates, to sign up to receive job postings. There were no positions posted during this current period. A KTLN representative contacted leaders of two churches to inform them of KTLN s part-time job opening and invited the churches to become part of KTLN s recruitment source list. Additional Recruitment and Training Measures for this period (1) Internship Program: KTLN DT s Internship Program offers internships to college/university students and other individuals interested in acquiring skills for broadcast employment. The program is designed to assist students in receiving college credits for their participation. Information regarding the internship program is available to universities, colleges, churches and community organizations and may be found at Program Details: We are committed to giving interns valuable experience including office, ministry, audio, lighting, basic non-linear editing, cameras, and set design / construction opportunities. No structured learning sessions should be expected. The intern is encouraged to ask questions and learn from watching, listening, and hands on experience. An eight-hour weekly minimum is required and time requirements of each college, university, or organization are followed. Scheduled work hours will be determined before acceptance. Hours can be flexible to meet the student s needs. This Internship Program only applies to broadcast television production and related assignments at KTLN. Results - Approximately 75 students visited the KTLN table Sonoma State University Career and Summer Internship Fair Location Sonoma State University, 181 East Cotati Ave Rohnert Park, CA Date & Time February 21, 213, 11: am 3: pm KTLN Attendees - Matt Kenny, Director of Ministries Job Fair Definition - This career and summer internship fair provided opportunities for students from a diverse pool of students and alumni to learn about KTLN and possible opportunities such as internships, volunteer, part-time and full-time positions. Results - Approximately 15 students visited the KTLN table. (3) Job Banks and Internet Programs: When positions are available, KTLN DT participates in job banks by posting notices of all job vacancies to the station s own website as well as those websites for National Association of Broadcasters; American Women in Radio and Television; California Broadcasters Association; Bay Area Society of Television and Radio; Jewish Vocational Services, and Monster Jobs. (4) Training Program for Staff KTLN established and maintains a training program designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions; KTLN employs 2 full time staff members. Two interns from Santa Rosa Junior College joined the freelance pool this period from a previous internship. One intern from UCLA joined the temporary employee pool this period by filling a part-time administrative assistant position. Annual in-house discrimination and sexual harassment training for management level personnel is conducted by the Director of Human Resources, Total Living Network. Training for directors in general was held on August 7, 212 and training specifically for KTLN managers was conducted on August 15, 212. KTLN management level personnel completed California Harassment Prevention Training and received course completion certificates on August 15, 212 and August 16, 212. (5) Other activities to further disseminate information about employment opportunities: KTLN runs an EEO advertisement on-air indicating they are an equal opportunity employer and solicits organizations to contact KTLN s office to be notified of all job openings. Students learned about signals, cable, satellite, master control and editing systems. They received hands-on instruction in the area of production by operating equipment and being talent in public service announcements written by the students that will air on KTLN. Page 7
