2 About us DKE is a brand developed by Merchandise Connection International Corporation. It is a brand that was conceived by experience, knowledge and a dream. The dream began in 2007 in our New York offices. From the start, (2001), the company s core business has been porcelain and ceramics. At that time while other manufacturers were down-sizing, we decided to use our knowledge and experience to expand into the hospitality industry. We have now developed a new china line for the hotel and restaurant industry that not only is durable but also innovative and affordable. We have planned and invested in this project for many years and refused to launch it until every facet was completed. Now we are very proud to say, we have established our dream. Today, not only do we design our products, but we manufacture and import them directly. Our manufacturing facility in the Pacific Rim employs more than 500 people. Our state of the art warehouse in New York can fulfill large and small orders in a timely manner. Our engineers and designers are constantly working on new and innovative products. 43 Glass Caring: How to make your glass...last longer page 43 Prevent from Thermal Shock -Allow glass to reach room temperature. -The thicker or heavier the glass, the more time needed. -Warm the glass to equalize the temperature difference. -Warm up the glass of uneven thickness develops various types of tension which lead to breakage. -Spot heat in microwave oven may result in breakage too. Prevent from Impact Shock -Be gentle with your glass -Avoid glass contact with bottle. -Never scoop with glass -Never handle glass to glass contact. -Never pile glasses. -Never put flatware in glass Correct Service & Function -Pour water into goblet before adding ice. -Do not use beer glass for juice, soft drink, etc.,as sugar coats the inside of glass affecting the carbonation of the beer. -Never place a hot drink glass on a cold metal surface. -Handle glass by the base or stem, never the rim. -Use the correct glass for each type of drink to ensure that the consistency, appearance and even taste are at their best. -Rinse the glass as soon as possible after use. -Use non-abrasive cleaner, nylon scrub or sponge in warm water. -Hold the glass by the bowl and do not twist the stem and the bowl in opposite directions while you scrub or dry. -When servicing, do not put too many glasses on a tray and do not carry them by hands. Glass Cloudiness -Hard Water The hard water is basically base elements and compounds, i.e. lime, calcium etc. which creates cloudy glass The only way to get rid off these base compounds is to use acid. -Chemical Reaction It is the result of the oxide in the air stimulated by humidity and the oxide in the glass combining together. Hence it creates a thin film on the glass. -Brighten Cloudy Glass Fill the sink with hot water and add approximately (depending on your sink size) 2 or 3 cups of vinegar. Leave the glass soak in for an hour, the film should be gone. Using more vinegar will remove the film faster.
