Charles Day, past President & Eagle Scout Chairman, was the Master of Ceremony. Eagle Scout Lovestrand received numerous awards, certificates, medals and checks from the Withlacoochee Chapter, FLSSAR, LAFLSSAR and the Withlacoochee Ladies Auxiliary. Eagle Scout Lovestrand will be honored at our Spring BOM, (Board of Management Meeting) May 1, 2, I am very proud of our accomplishments again this year with Charles Day s hard work and dedication with our Chapter Eagle Scout program. We dress in American Revolutionary War Uniforms marching in holiday parades and observances and posting of the colors at our general membership meetings. 8 P a g e 8 Eagle Scout Month March 12, 2015 George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest The George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest was originally established and named in honor of President Calvin Coolidge, who won a local SAR essay contest while a student at Amherst. The contest was reestablished in 1988 by Compatriot McCarthy DeMere. In 1995, the contest was renamed the George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest in honor of their generous gift to the SAR to support this contest. The program is designed to give freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students an opportunity to explore events that shaped American history. Conducted at the Chapter, State Society and National Society levels, the students must submit an original essay with topics based on original research and deal with an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution. Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship Open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application. (The application year is the calendar year, 01 Jan. to 31 Dec.) The year that Eagle was awarded is not restricted. College plans do not need to be completed in order to receive the cash scholarship. Three cash scholarship awards are given: As the National First Place winner - $10,000.00; Runner-up - $6,000.00; 2nd runner-up - $4, You may apply more than one year if you meet the age requirements but no more than $10, total may be granted to any one Eagle Scout. Entrants need to complete only one application -- the one for the chapter competition. If it is a winner it is then used for the state competition, and if it is a winner again it is used for the national competition. The application consists of: 1. The two page application form 2. The Four Generation ancestor chart. 3. The 500 word Patriotic Theme Prizes and recognitions may be awarded at the SAR Chapter and State levels.

11 P a g e 11 Eagle Scout Month March 12, 2015 Eagle Jeremiah Lovestrand is an accomplished Violin Player and at the end of all his awards he was asked to play a song for the group. He played Humorsque by Dvorak. The crowd responded with a standing ovation and much applause. Jeff spoke on an overview of scouting where it s been and Where it s going.

Harley is a distinguished WWII Veteran.
