From Your Senior Regent s Desk! Hope everyone is having a GREAT summer. The WOTM are busy with Taco Tuesday and supporting our various lodge activities. The Luau on July 13th was a lot of fun and a great success. A big shout out to Gina who brought dancers who were absolutely AMAZING. Dave Lopez, Bobby, and Dada did a great job cooking. A Big thank you to Raul Ramirez for his organization and work on this project. I know Raul had a lot of help. Please know we all appreciate your efforts. The WOTM will be holding a breakfast on August 11th. We will be selling tickets in advance. We ask that you please get your tickets in advance. Those who purchase tickets in advance will have their names entered for a raffle. WOTM meetings are continuing on the second and fourth Thursday s each month. Come to a meeting. We have a lot of fun. We WELCOME all new attendees with open arms. FROM THE GOVERNOR S DESK Where has this year gone? It s almost time to plan our annual Halloween dance, Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas/New Year s dance. If anyone has any ideas please let the board members know, better yet get involved and spearhead the event, we can use all the help we can get. After almost a year of fundraising hot dog sales, and donations this year s Relay for life was a huge success thanks to Bob, Gina and countless others who have stepped up to support this worthy cause. To all the cooks and servers, Joe for his music a BIG Thank You! We all hope and pray that someday the efforts of everyone will help us to find a cure for this terrible disease that has affected so many lives. Our Luau was another huge success as those of you who attended know. Ka Hale hula O Pilialohaokalani O Hilo dancers thank you for the wonderful dances, who provided the music, Raul our MC, Dada and his staff of cooks and servers great job in the preparation of the food, a special thank you to Sysco who donated most of the food for our event. To the Moosettes, you did a wonderful job decorating for the event. August 10th our lodge will be hosting the District 14 awards night, come out and show your support, it will be held in our social quarters at 6pm. As a reminder, our bartenders and DJ all work for free any donation I know would be greatly appreciated. Reminder you must show your card each day. Ray Rangel, Governor Sickness and Distress Corner We were sad to learn of the passing of Julio Garcia, beloved husband of Past Grand Regent Charlotte Garcia. He had a long and wonderful life to the age of 96. A memorial service will be held sometime in the month of September to celebrate his life. Our condolences to Esther Murillo Borneman whose mother, Francis Vasquez passed away on February 28th. She was also a family member to the Duran s and Lowe s. Alyce Nelson has recovered nicely from her surgery last month. Sympathies to the Volden family on the loss of Uncle Claud Splawn. Our apologies for lack of reporting on sickness & distress we need to be notified so we can put something in this section.
