The past few months have brought an influx of new members to our lodge and, for the most part, we have a new doorman to thank. Phil Kavanagh (pictured left) began checking Moose membership cards, and enrolling new members this past May. He is now fifth in Ohio for procuring new membership applications. Phil s efforts have made a huge impact in terms of lodge growth, and his service is greatly appreciated. Attendance at our New Member Orientations has definitely been on the rise, said Lodge Administrator, Mike Uhlenhake. It s great to see lots of new members coming in, and enjoying all that our lodge has to offer. Indian Lake Moose Lodge has the second largest membership in the country. Its unique, lakefront location and convenient dock area is a huge draw for boaters. Lodge members can enjoy the sweeping lake views, great food and special events throughout the year. In addition, a variety of bands play from May through September on the lakeside deck. HONORING OUR COMMUNITY HEROES PROGRAM EXTENDED The campaign to Honor our Community Heroes was such a success, that the program has been extended through the end of this year. From now until December 31, 2017, Moose Membership dues first year fees for Active Military Personnel, First Responders, Members of the National Guard, and Border Patrol Officers will be waived. This is a wonderful way for our Moose Fraternity to say Thank You to those who serve this great country, and our local communities! Page 1 of 8 Downloaded from www.ohiomoose.com Posted: 8/3/2017 1

OSMA PRESENTS CHECK, GETS INVOLVED AT SPECIAL OLYMPICS SUMMER GAMES Fundraising in the form of polar plunges, bake sales and special raffles, enabled the Ohio State Moose Association to present the Ohio Special Olympics with a check totaling $110,000, during the 2017 Summer Games. The event was held on the campus of The Ohio State University, June 23-25. The athletes also enjoyed snacks and drinks in Tent Town, which included a game area sponsored by the OSMA. Participants had a great time playing games to win t-shirts and prizes. Thank you to all of the Tent Town volunteers, to everyone who participated in the fundraising efforts, and to all of those who support the Ohio Special Olympics! Moose Members Serving Then...and NOW! The Valued Veterans Program is designed for recognition and support of our Moose members who are Military Veterans. Go to the Moose International Website @ www.mooseintl.org to learn more about the program, and to sign up as a Veteran. Thank you for your commitment and service to our country! Hello Everyone, It is hard to believe that the summer is over halfway gone! I hope some of you have been able to come out on the weekends to hear the great bands that have been playing on the deck. There are still many great bands that will play on the weekend, between now and the end of September. A big Congratulations goes out to Otie Anspach for receiving the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. The lodge will be having a celebration for Otie on Saturday, October 21 st. The Ohio State Moose Association s Annual Convention will be August 17 through 20 th. Anyone that can help Trustee Jim McWhorter with the drawings during the convention would be greatly appreciated. Finally, while summer might be winding down, Ohio State football will be starting soon. I hope to see a lot of you on Saturdays, rooting the Buckeyes on during the games.
