East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office EBRSO 4th Annual Awards Ceremony September 2013 Inside this issue: Deputy Of The Month 2 Congratulations 3 In The Community 4 Birthdays 5 Upcoming Events 6 The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office hosted it's fourth annual Awards Ceremony this month at Healing Place church. More than 300 deputies and their families attended the event catered by Tony s Seafood. Dozens of deputies received awards ranging from Deputy of the Year to the Medal of Valor. Congratulation to everyone that receive an award.

DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH Sergeant Rob Chambers, of the Homicide Division, has been named the Detective of the Month. Sergeant Chambers was hired by the EBRSO in February of 1998 in the Narcotics Division and transferred to Homicide in May of 2011. He has been nominated for his exceptional performance in a July investigation regarding the overdose of a nineteen year old female. Through the investigation, Sgt. Chambers was able to link the overdose to another individual who was then arrested for Second Degree Murder. This is the first overdose investigation in which enough evidence was obtained to affect an arrest for Second Degree Murder. Sgt. Chambers is a very dedicated and knowledgeable Detective, who is an asset to the Sheriff s Office and the citizens of our Parish.. Deputy John Kinney, Reserves, has been named the Civil Deputy of the Month. Deputy Kinney joined the EBRSO in June of 1193. He is a dedicated Reserve Deputy, who has proven his dedication through going above and beyond his volunteer expectations. He has exceeded his hourly volunteer requirement and worked over 110 hours in the Tax Enforcement Division. Deputy Kinney s work efforts are exceptional and he does a great job performing whatever tasks that are assigned to him. The Sheriff s Office would like to thank you for your dedication and hard work! Deputy Dennis Reynolds, currently working in Court Room Security, has been named Corrections Deputy of the Month. Deputy Reynolds was hired by the Sheriff s Office in August of 2007. Deputy Reynolds has been assigned to the metal detector of the new court house, since it opened. Throughout his assignment, he has found numerous weapons and contraband that could have been detrimental to the safety of the staff and the public in the building. On at least four occasions, Deputy Reynolds has found hand guns in the bags of individuals attempting to enter the build. Congratulations on a job well done! Dana St. Pierre, currently located in the Chief Criminal Deputy s Office, has been named the Administrative/ Support Services Deputy of the month. Mrs. St. Pierre originally joined the EBRSO in January of 2008 as an Administrative Assistant and has faithfully served in that capacity since then. She was nominated for her professionalism and excellent performance since the move to the new Head Quarters building near the airport. As of June, Mrs. St. Pierre has taken on the responsibility of 7 more Supervisors and has gone above and beyond the expectations of each. Congratulations and thank you for your hard work! Reserve Deputies Robert Buquoi and Travis Snyder have been named the Uniform Patrol Deputies of the Month. These two Reserve Deputies were assigned to focus on targeting the altered MVI (Motor Vehicle Inspection) sticker violations. Over the past two months, these Deputies have seized in excess of 165 altered stickers. As a result, we now have a strong relationship with the Dept. of Public Safety and have nurtured a relationship with the Dept. of Environmental Quality. We would like to thank these two individuals for their devotion to duty and their dedication to the community.
