1 East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office EBRSO & Target Team Up for Shop With A Cop December Inside this issue: Deputy Of The Month 2 Congratulations 3 In The Community 4 Birthdays 5 Upcoming Events 6 The East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office partnered with Target s Community Giving Grant Program Shop With a Cop this month when Deputies brought 20 East Baton Rouge Parish kids, nominated by school counselors based on need, to the Siegen Lane Target to shop for Christmas gifts. Target started the Shop with a Cop program as a way to build a positive relationship between law enforcement and the children in the community.
2 DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH Deputy Kevin Johnson, Central Substation, has been named the Uniform Patrol Deputy of the Month. Deputy Johnson was hired by the Sheriff s Office in November of He has been nominated for his actions taken on November 13, On this date, the EBRSO Communications put out a BOLO for a 2005 white Chevrolet Malibu with a shattered driver s side window and a temporary tag in the rear window. While driving on Greenwell Springs Road, Deputy Johnson observed a vehicle matching the description and initiated a traffic stop. He detained the driver until other deputies arrived. The driver was booked into Parish Prison for outstanding warrants and being a fugitive from the Greensburg PD. Sergeant Craig Brouillette, Civil Foreclosures, has been named the Civil Deputy of the Month. Sergeant Brouillette was hired by the EBRSO in June of Sergeant Brouillette has kept the office of Foreclosures running smoothly. He has ensured that all of the civil processing data entry is handled in a timely manner and the Writ Deputies are kept on task. Sergeant Brouillette is willing to help anyone and everyone that needs it or asks. He is always willing to the extra mile in everything. Deputy Justin Lagarde, of the Parish Prison, has been named the Corrections Deputy of the Month. Deputy Lagarde was hired in January of 2012 in corrections. Deputy Lagarde remains professional no matter what situation arises. During the last disciplinary board, Deputy Lagarde pulled every inmate quickly and properly as needed for the process. Deputy Markus Sylvester, of Homicide, has been named the Detectives and Special Operations Deputy of the Month. Deputy Sylvester was hired by the Sheriff s Office in June of 2011 in Uniform Patrol and transferred to Detectives in August of He is being nominated for the tireless effort he put forth into solving a homicide case in October of Detective Sylvester worked for three days to solve a homicide and bring closure to the victim s family and friends. His commitment and hard work are beneficial to the goals of the Detectives Division. Savannah Williams, of the Public Information Division, has been named the Administrative and Support Services Deputy of the Month. Ms. Williams works very hard for the public affairs division and assists almost all other divisions. She works to schedule all community events, assists detectives in solving cases by drafting press releases, works to keep the website and social media up-to-date, orders community supplies for all divisions, works on the monthly newsletter and many other duties. She does all this with a great attitude and a smile.
