Senior Regents Column The end of the chapter year is quickly approaching and we have gotten a head start on chapter membership. Your help is still needed. We will have a retention list at the chapter business meeting for the duration of the year. Please plan to attend and show your support. It s also the time of year when the nominating committee will be reviewing candidates for election to the Board of Officers for 2011-2012. The nomination committee meetings will be held on Thursdays February 10 th, 17 th, & 24 th, at 6 pm. If you are interested in running for a position, please get your nomination slip in before one of the nominating committee meetings. Nomination slips are on the Chapter Bulletin Board. We started the year off with a full calendar. There was a great turn out for the Loom Special Enrollment, honoring the International Supreme Governor. The College 50 s party was hopping and the Publicity committee Chili cook off was a fun time for all our chefs. We continue into February with the Moose Legion Sweetheart Dance, Education Advancement committee Taste of the Nations, Star Recorder Matriculate s Spring Time Basket Raffle and many other activities. Look for the chairmen ads for further time, dates and details. Chapter Meetings are the 2 nd and 4 th Monday of the month. New member welcome orientation is at 6:30 pm. Greeting From Your Administrator: For those of you who missed the Supreme Governor s visit on January 20 th, you really missed a treat. We had approximately 100 Moose members in attendance. We all should be proud and honored that a Supreme Governor would pick our Lodge to make an official visit. This will go down as a moment in history for Lodge 1075. After Brother Levis Hughes took our Supreme Governor on a short tour of Tallahassee, there was a Special Enrollment in his honor in which 11 Enrollees participated. As always, our Ritual Team did an outstanding job. After the enrollment ceremony, the Supreme Governor gave an inspiring and entertaining talk. Our Governor, Wayne Bryan presented a check from the LOOM to the Supreme Governor for $6,000 to the Endowment Fund and our Sr. Regent, Carol Davis presented an additional $6,000 check from the WOTM to Moose Charities ($4,717 of this $6,000 to be used at Mooseheart to purchase Stoves, Refrigerators, Microwaves and Dishwashers and the remaining $1,283 to be used at Moosehaven to purchase 22 LCD TVs). Our Supreme Governor then presented a check from the WOTM for $1,000 to the American Cancer Society and checks from the LOOM for $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House; $2,000 to Habitat for Humanity; $2,000 to 2 nd Harvest of the Big Bend; and $1,000 to the Hope House. Then the Supreme Governor presented 6 dozen Tommy Moose to the Leon Co. Sheriff s Department. Soon afterward, we were all treated to a wonderful sit down served Dinner prepared by Pat Browder and crew. A big thank you goes out to Master Chef Pat and her crew, the servers, and the cleanup crew. Also, if you have not been to your Lodge lately, you have no idea how much and how many hours has been put into much needed maintenance. This maintenance and spruce up of our Lodge has been going on for about 3 months now. To the about 5% of our membership who contributed to this 3 month campaign, I cannot pat you on the back enough. To the 95% of those of you who chose not to contribute in any way, all I will say is it is your Lodge and your responsibility too. There is no reason why a Lodge with 1,000 members should be constantly having problems with members volunteering to help out. We, like all Lodges, are an all volunteer organization and do exist for a purpose. Our Bingo Operations declared profits for the Quarter, or three month period, ending December 31, 2011. For this period, we are in the process of dispersing $29,000. In addition to the donations mentioned above, the LOOM will be donating $2,000 to Big Bend Hospice and $500 to Northwoods Baptist Church. Also the WOTM will be donating $500 each to ECHO, Make a Wish Foundation, Refuge House, March of Dimes, Parkinson Disease, and Alzheimer s Association. This brings our total donation to Charities from Bingo for the last 6 months to $49,000. Welcome the following New Members who were voted into our Lodge in the month of January: Robert Wing Sponsor Neil Alspach Park Goodson Sponsor Mark Reid Robert Purvis Sponsor George Fray Wayne Walsh - Sponsor Wayne Bryan Godfrey Flash Sponsor Wayne Bryan Thomas Bruce Sponsor George Guilford Ken Wiggins Sponsor Mark Reid Gary McGrapy Sponsor Mike Schoening Fraternally, Richard Williamson Administrator
