2 RECENT CHANGES TO DRUG DEMAND REDUCTION PROGRAM DDR Member of the Year/Wing of the Year (Member of the Year can be either a Senior or Cadet; ALL nominations must be filed on CAPF120.) NOTE: The documentation that will be used will be in e-services reporting under Activity Reports and End of Year Report. New Training Opportunities: * Speech Contest * DDR Excellence is part of the Quality Unit Award As of 1 October 2013 the DDR Specialty Track will be incorporated within the Cadet Programs Specialty Track. : Those members who currently hold a Master Rating in the CP or DDR specialty track will not be affected by the change. Those members who currently hold a Technician or Senior Rating or who enroll in either specialty track prior to 1 October 2013 will have until 30 April 2015 to complete the specialty track as it stands now (This is keeping with the new and approved guidelines by Professional Development, all Specialty Tracks will be 6 months for Technician, 12 months for Senior, and 18 months for Master ratings). Anyone who enrolls after 1 October 2013 will be enrolled in the combined CP/DDR specialty track.

3 Cadet Programs and DDR Specialty Tracks Grandfather Provisions Senior members who attained a Senior Rating in the Cadet Programs Officer Specialty Track under the April 2011 edition of CAPP 216 may continue working on the Master Rating using the 2011 standards until 1 October You ll find CAPP 216, 2011 edition, in our specialty track archives below. Senior members who were enrolled in the DDR Officer Specialty Track under the December 2011 edition of CAPP 228 before October 1, 2013, may continue working on their rating using the 2011 standards until 1 October For the 2011 standards, please see our specialty track archive below. Senior members who are currently pursuing a Technician or Senior Rating in the Cadet Programs Officer Specialty Track will need to complete the training requirements set by the new 1 April 2014 edition of CAPP 216 to obtain those ratings. However, the old and new requirements overlap by more than 90%, so from a practical perspective the switch to the 1 April 2014 standards should be easy for members and cause very little disruption to their personal training timelines.

4 Now announcing the 2014/2015 Drug Demand Reduction Speech Contest This contest is part of the continuing effort to teach cadets and seniors to make responsible choices and help reduce the demand for illegal and illicit drugs in America. The national speech contest is open to all cadets and is an opportunity to research, write, and present a 5 minute speech. Speeches will be on various topics related to Civil Air Patrol and will incorporate a theme of responsible choices or a drug-free message. Speeches will be presented in front of an audience, filmed, and uploaded for judging. Winners will receive recognition, prizes, and invitations to speak at Wing, Region, or National events. Speeches must be submitted by April 1, Please see the contest rules for more details. Cadets: research well, practice frequently, speak persuasively, and good luck! 5 IMPORTANT THINGS FOR FILING REPORTS PLEASE get all your After Action Reports in NO LATER than 30 September As of 1 October 2014 there will be a new After Action Reporting. Also as of 1 October 2014 there will be a NEW End of Year Report for this year ONLY the FY14 EOY report will be due NLT 31 December 2014
