2 Power of One Campaign Awards are divided into Grand Squadron Challenge and Elite Squadron Challenge. In addition, there is recognition of Individual Member Achievement. A. Grand Squadron Challenge will recognize the first five squadrons to achieve recruiting a 50% growth rate between October 2003 and October B. Elite Squadron Challenge will recognize fifteen squadrons, which meet or exceed the recruiting targets of the Power of One campaign but did not place in the Grand Squadron Challenge. C. Individual Members may be recognized by recruiting one new member, by recruiting five or ten new members, or by recruiting fifteen new members. Awards to these individuals are extensive and range from a Power of One lapel pin to an expenses reimbursed trip to the Annual Meeting in Orlando. 2

3 P/C/C Wm Selden, IV Mira Award Member Involvement Retention Award (MIRA) The Member Involvement Retention Award (MIRA) is presented to the squadron that has devised and utilized the best plan to solve a squadron member involvement problem, and has produced measurable results. How to Qualify Each entry must answer three questions: What was your squadron s member involvement problem? What was your plan to solve that problem? What measurable proof do you have (before and after) that the plan worked? All entries are to be submitted by the Squadron Retention / Involvement Chair to their District Retention / Involvement Chair (or Membership Committee Chair) before 1 April. The District Chair must then submit all entries to the MIRA Chair of the National Membership Committee by 1 April. Judging Selection is made by a panel of three judges, selected by the Team Leader of MIRA. Award Presentation The award presentation is held annually at the Governing Board Meeting. The award will be presented by the National Administrative Officer or the National Membership Committee Chair. Goal The goal of this program is to generate plans (solutions to problems) so they can be shared between the squadrons and also honor the squadron with the best plan. The plans submitted will be published in The Ensign and the National Membership Newsletter. We also encourage the Districts to publish winners in their own publications. 4 GROWTH AWARD Annual award for squadrons and districts who achieve the Strategic Plan National Growth Goal of 3% of higher membership growth. Program dates are 31 May to 31 May. Certificates are distributed at district fall conferences. 4

5 BOATUS DISTINGUISHED CIVIC SERVICE AWARD Recognition program to identify a leading squadron and district who have provided leadership in civic community programming and support. One squadron and one district are selected from those entered by filing the entry application. In cooperation with Boat/US, two trophies are available, one for Squadron and one for District, This includes not only the usual boating classes and VSCs, but may be expanded to public seminars and workshops, scholarships, courtesy marine patrols, media interviews, children s safety programs, etc. Program dates are 1 Nov to 30 Oct. Awards are presented during the annual meeting. This award is sponsored by BoatUS. For entry forms see the web. 5

6 YOUTH POSTER CONTEST Annual involvement reaching out to our kids and kids on our communities focusing on boating and or water safety theme each year. Program dates are fall meeting to fall meeting. Squadron level prior to judging at District level. District level District spring conference or summer rendezvous. National level for 2006, 17 August 2006 Fall GB NY 6

7 The USPS Finley Sea Scout Service Award is named for Past Chief Commander Raymond A. Finley, Jr., SN. It is available to USPS members who are also active in the Sea Scouts and who have given outstanding civic, educational and fraternal leadership to both organizations. 7
