CONCERNING RECOGNITION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM COLORADO WHO ARE SERVING IN OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM AND OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM AND HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED WHILE SERVING THEIR COUNTRY IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. WHEREAS, Thousands of military personnel from Colorado have served and continue to serve in Iraq in "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and in Afghanistan in "Operation Enduring Freedom", including troops based at Fort Carson, the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, and Buckley Air Force Base; members of the Colorado National Guard, Army Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve; and troops from Colorado who are deployed with military units based in other states; and

2 WHEREAS, Since April of 2008, the following soldiers based at Fort Carson, Colorado, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in Operation Iraqi Freedom:! Sergeant Michael Kyle Clark of Sacramento, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th! Specialist Armando A. De La Paz of Riverside, California, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th! Specialist Kevin R. Dickson of Steelville, Missouri, a member of the United States Army assigned to the Group Support Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group;! Sergeant First Class Lawrence D. Ezell of Portland, Texas, a member of the United States Army assigned to the 62nd Ordnance, 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal;! Specialist Steven J. Fitzmorris of Columbia, Missouri, a member of the United States Army assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th! Specialist Christopher T. Sergeant Glen Edward Martinez of Boulder, Colorado, a member of the United States Marine Corps assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California;! Staff Sergeant Kenneth W. Sergeant Jonnie Lee Stiles of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a member of the United States Army National Guard assigned to the 927th Engineer Company, 769th Engineer Battalion, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-seventh General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: That we, the members of the Sixty-seventh General Assembly of the state of Colorado: (1) Remember and honor these Coloradans who have given their lives in service to their country in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; (2) Express our sympathy to the families and friends of those soldiers who have died; and (3) Honor the service, dedication, and valor of all military personnel from Colorado who have served and are currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. _ Terrance D.
