3 Commanding Officer On behalf of the staff and instructors, welcome to the Austrian Armed Forces International Centre (AUTINT). We are sure that you will find the course you are about to take professionally rewarding. The AUTINT is a competence centre for PO, and since 1999 it has been a PfP Training & Education Centre (PTC). It conducts operations preparation courses and follow-ups for POs, as well as for humanitarian and disaster relief operations. The Austrian Armed Forces International Centre is committed to provide the best possible training environment and contributes to help developing closer relations between partner nations and other countries. Your comments regarding the course content will ultimately benefit future participants. At the end of the course you will be in the best position to provide us with your feedback. 4 GENERAL INFORMATION Since 1960, the Austrian Armed Forces (AAF) have gained 48 years of experience in Crisis Response Operations (CRO), Peace Operations (PO), with a participation of more than 70,000 Austrian troops in numerous missions all over the world. For that purpose our soldiers undergo specific training. The AAF main focus within the enhanced Partnership for Peace (PfP) is to achieve interoperability, primarily for CROs. The AAF have long-standing experience with multinational forces on battalion level. The AAF participate in International EU-, NATO-, OSCE- and UN-led operations. Main Tasks: This includes: - Conducting CRO training with international participation and specific training assistance. - Conducting major parts of mission-specific CRO training and preparation, predeployment training, including key personnel- and Force Integration Training (FIT). - Administrating aptitude testing and deployment as well as acting as rotation centre - for CROs. - Implementing CRO-specific personnel administration, national logistics and re-supply, and providing for recreation and welfare. - Providing Host Nation Support for NATO-led courses and workshops. AUTINT-Military Expert on Mission Courses As contribution to a comprehensive training approach, the Military Experts on Mission Courses of AUTINT include the training of Liaison-, CIMIC-, Field Humint-, and PSYOPS-elements. The students of the different modules attend the same lectures and exercises in the first week (basic module) and continue afterwards with their specialised training. 4

7 GENERAL REMARKS FOR THE COURSES 1. All courses are conducted in English. English language proficiency of the participants is required as described in STANAG Registration forms should be forwarded to POC not later than five weeks prior to the course. 3. Participants are requested to fax or their flight litineraries at least one week before the course starts. 4. You are required to always carry a valid passport or NATO Travel Order and ID card (with photo) with you. Ensure with your national authorities that above mantioned documents are valid. 5. For emergency aid a base medical centre is available. Further treatment will be administered at civilian medical facilities at participant s own expense. 6. Travel arrangements are a national responsibility. Further costs for course fees, accommodation and food depend on bilateral agreements between AUSTRIA and the participating nation. 7. Participants will be provided with necessary information prior to each course. 8. You will be welcomed and seen off at the airports in accordance with your flight schedule. 7
8 AUTINT Military Expert on Mission Course Liaison Cooperation Coordination Course PSO DATE: 23 FEB 13 MAR AUG 18 SEP 2015 AIM: The aim of the LN-Course for Peace Support Operations is to enable the participants to fulfill the tasks of a LOT/LMT (Liaison Observation/Liaison Monitoring Team) - member (Officers and NCOs), as well as a Liaison Officer/NCO in any Liaison Element in a multinational Headquarters LEARNING OBJECTIVES: - Knowledge of the principles of conflict management and peace support - Knowledge of the operational tasks within the framework of peace support - Conducting military command and control procedures, deciding on and executing the measures required and/or supervise their implementation, not only on the basis of the concrete mission but also continuously and in response to changes in the situation - Carrying out the directives of the superior echelon and supervising their implementation - Knowledge of the legal provisions and procedures pertinent to international operations. - Sesnsibilisation on UNSCR 1325 REQUIREMENTS: - Ranks: Officers > OF-1 to OF-6 NCOs > OR-7 to OR-9 - Completed Company Commander Training for designated Cdr of LOT/LMT (Austrian participants) - Military driving License (Austrian participants) - Level of English NATO Level 3 (officers) and Level 2 (NCOs) according to STANAG 6001 CENTRE, RESPONSIBLE FOR COURSE MANAGEMENT: Austrian Armed Forces International Center, Wallenstein-Kaserne, Wienerstraße 360, 2434 GÖTZENDORF 8

12 Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Course PSO DATE: not conducted in 2015 AIM: - To raise awareness of THB as a violation of human rights, its influence on a safe & secure environment (SASE) and to realize the possible threats to force-protection. - To enable soldiers to respond to cases of human trafficking with appropriate means.
