7 Explosive Remnants of War Includes grenades, artillery shells, rockets and aircraft bombs, which can be active for decades after conflict Landmines and UXO can be rigged with booby traps and configured as improvised explosive devises (IED)

9 Small Arms/Light Weapons 38 countries assisted to date Over 1.6 million weapons & 90,000 tons of ammunition destroyed Long-term engagement within source-countries Short projects in affected countries - often through DDR programs Project coordination with OSCE, NSPA and the ITF - enhancing physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) of remaining SA/LW

23 The MANPADS Threat easy to transport, easy to conceal weight 28 to 55 pounds accurate to 15,000 feet at a range of up to 3 miles since 1970, over 40 civilian aircraft have been hit by MANPADS, causing about 25 crashes and over 800 deaths
