His primary responsibility at Blue Ash was to implement, and then lead the paramedic level emergency medical service. Previously, Chief Whitworth served as a volunteer with the Golf Manor Fire Department, progressing to the rank of Assistant Chief. During his tenure with Golf Manor that began in 1973, he was instrumental in the process to transition their Basic level emergency medical service to the Paramedic level and oversee the operation. While serving as a volunteer for Golf Manor, Chief Whitworth worked in industry in a variety of progressively responsible positions, finally as the Manager of Inventory and Production Control when he left for a career in the fire and emergency medical services. Jim served for nine years in the U.S. Army Reserves 311th Field/Station Hospital (Sharonville, Ohio). While rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, Chief Whitworth worked as a platoon sergeant, Senior Ward Master, Chief Ward Master, and Acting First Sergeant. 4 P a g e

5 He graduated from the Army's Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare School and was his unit's Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Non-Commissioned Officer. Chief Whitworth attended the Ohio College of Applied Science/Ohio Mechanics Institute in the Electronics Technology associate degree program. In 1978, Chief Whitworth graduated from the St. Elizabeth Hospital Paramedic Program in Dayton, Ohio. Also, Chief Whitworth has acheived specialty certifications in a variety of disciplines including Ohio Certified Fire Safety Inspector, Hazardous Materials Technician, Incident Management, and Computer Aided Management of Emergency Operations (CAMEO). Chief Whitworth graduated from the Lead Clermont program in Chief Whitworth served as an Ohio Certified Paramedic (26 years) and now as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. He is a Weapons of Mass Destruction Preparedness Instructor (Awareness, Operations, and Technician levels), and also presents Intermediate and Advance level classes on Incident Management and Unified Command. He served for twenty-one years as an Ohio Certified Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Instructor, Basic Life Support (CPR) Instructor, and First Aid Instructor. He has served on Clermont County's Local Emergency Planning Committee, is a former member and Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Cincinnati Hazardous Materials Unit, and was the federal legislation liaison for the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association for five years. Jim currently serves on the Clermont County Terrorism Advisory Team, the Southwest Ohio-Northern Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Terrorism Training Committee, is Chairman of the Ohio Response System Incident Management Team Technical Advisory Committee, the Board of the Great Oaks Education Foundation, and the Board of Trustees of the Fire and EMS Chiefs' Alliance of Clermont County. He holds memberships in the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Congressional Fire Services Institute, and the National Fire Protection Association. Jim is also serving as President of the Mt. Adams Pilgrim Chapel United Church of Christ.
