6 CBDP Deliverables Sustains lethality through force protection: enables Joint Force to continue the mission - preserves combat power by protecting against and mitigating effects of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) weapons. Enables situational awareness of CBRN weapons/hazard - Improves decision making by fielding better detection and identification systems. Sustains core physical and intellectual infrastructure to deliver capabilities and assess emerging threats. Opportunities to improve: Conduct additional foundational threat agent science to address threat evolution. Improve chemical and biological detection and identification capabilities. Pursue additional CBR medical countermeasure candidates for development. Improve mass personnel and wide area decontamination. Increase remote CBR identification and interoperable information systems. 6

8 Chemical and Biological Defense Program Established by 50 USC 1522 (PL ) to integrate research, development, and acquisition of capabilities to provide all Services with effective and integrated chemical and biological (CB) defense detection, protection, and response capabilities.
