Feb. 21, 22, 23 Agenda Wednesday, Feb. 21, :00 Introductions, Announcements, Presidential Welcome 13:15 Presentation of Colors - Gatlinburg Fire Response 14:15 RADAR Andrew Hart, EMT-P This presentation is on RADAR Memphis Fire s non-emergency call reduction initiative. Memphis Fire Department has developed an innovative method for dealing with non-emergent EMS calls that tie up 911 resources. This presentation will discuss the RADAR initiative and how Memphis Fire has worked with insurers to develop payment models for referring patients to alternate care sites rather than transporting to already overcrowded ER s. Andrew Hart is the Division Chief of EMS for Memphis Fire, responsible for an ambulance service that responds to over 135, EMS responses per year. He is currently serving as Vice President of the West TN Ambulance Director s Association and is a former TASA board member. Andrew also serves as a Plans Chief for TN Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team. As part of his work with Memphis Fire, Andrew has spearheaded efforts to change the model for responding to the over 25,000 non-emergent calls that Memphis Fire receives per year. 2 15:35 The Dinosaur Extinction Michael Ethridge, EMT-P, IC This presentation outlines changes currently taking place in EMS and what role experienced personnel can play in the future of EMS. Mike Ethridge is the director of Macon County EMS, and has been in EMS since He attended Paramedic school in 1990 at Cookeville through Roane State. He has served various roles in EMS including Paramedic, Training Officer and currently director at Macon County EMS. Within this program all first responders will have opportunity to join the wireless network on a dedicated system for first responders. Arnold Hooper is the wireless communications director for the State of Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. He has been involved in Public Safety since 1976 beginning as a Volunteer Firefighter and Rescue Squad member working his way up the chain of command to attain the rank of Assistant Chief. He currently manages the statewide build out for the Tennessee Highway Patrol of the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network a P25 trunked radio system utilizing the TVRCS as phase 1. Gerald Risner is the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator with the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security in the Communications Sector for the Tennessee Highway Patrol and is currently helping to head up the new Tennessee Advanced Communication Network or TACN (a LMR P25 700/800/VHF trunking system that has been implemented statewide and currently used by several state departments and local entities).

Andy Gienapp is the current EMS Manager for the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services. It compares and contrasts obstacles faced and how these lessons learned can help other rural providers.

This presentation shares experiences and explores concepts to develop EMS leaders to become better motivators, educators, and mentors to their team members. Brent Dyer is a deputy chief with Sumner County EMS. This is his 18th year of service to the EMS industry in Middle Tennessee. Jeff Davis is the regional director of base operations for AirEvac. He has served in that position since 2008, working his way up from a program coordinator, and then area manager. He has been with AirEvac since He is a former EMS director (McNairy County EMS). 11:00 TASA Legislative Update - TennCare and more Keith Douglas, EMT-P Keith will discuss the detailed intent of CMS Medicaid Provider Assessment program; Understanding the guidelines of provider assessment programs in EMS and the general procedures and processes involved in TN legislation complexities and "lessons learned" from legislative efforts.
