4 In Service We give of Ourselves Our Time Our Expertise Our Compassion Our Humor!! But many projects and activities require the green-stuff ($$$) to make them happen. So let s focus on the $$$ for a while!!!

5 Examples Span all Avenues of Rotary Service... Community Vocational & Youth International Club

6 Community Service... Spencer Crest Nature Center (1979) $5,000 to incorporate and begin the Nature Center. $117,000 raised throughout the Community with Rotary as the campaign coordinator. Commemorated the 74th Anniversary of Rotary International.

7 Community Service... Centerway Square (1990) 3 year pledge using Poinsettia sale proceeds, a gift of $10,000.

8 Community Service Patterson Inn (1980-joint project with Kiwanis). Restrooms and Cedar Siding - gift of $7,107. Rockwell Museum (1980) Rotary Gallery; lounge and reception room to display Carder Steuben Glass. gift of $10,000

9 Community Service Cedar Art s Center (1996) Re-model Lobby in honor of Corning Rotary Club s 75th Anniversary. gift of $25,000

10 Community Service... Corning Community College Revolving Loan Fund, a gift of $7,500 Founders Pavilion (1987 Hugh Keenan) Dental equipment and air conditioning, a gift of $6,234 Corning Hospital (1985) Pastoral Care Endowment, a gift of $10,000.

11 Community Service... Centennial Sculpture (1993) commemorates the 100th anniversary of the City of Corning gift of $15,000

12 Community Service... United Way (1972) Rebuilding Fund, a gift of $5,000. (2001 & 2002) Help during the economic downturn, two gifts of $10,000 each.

13 Community Service... Centennial Project.. A Gazebo for Denison Park (2005) Cost $26,000 plus constructed by Rotarians

14 Community Service... Plus our Club routinely contributes to... Boy Scouts Girl Scouts Corning YMCA Hospice Food Pantry Teen Angels Corning Fireworks Science Fair Chamber of Commerce Planter Program Salvation Army

15 Vocational & Youth Service... Exchange Student Program ($3,700) Camp STAR Annual camp for handicapped children held at Watson Homestead (costs c. $30,000). Our direct share is $3,500 (from dues) plus help at LPGA (typically a further $8,000).

16 Vocational & Youth Service... Scholarship awards to area students distributed annually ($3000) Interact Clubs Sponsorship at both East & West High Schools ($400) Student Lacrosse Lunch ($400)

17 International Service... Polio Plus Campaign Our Club donated $23,597 (1986) and a further $15,053 during 2001 through 2005

18 International Service... In addition to Polio Plus donations, projects in Mexico, Ukraine, South Africa, Brazil & Nepal totaling ($6,435) Czech Republic, Turkey, India, Nepal & Zimbabwe totaling ($3,500) Philipines & Malawi ($1,200) Fiji, India & Nepal ($2,000) India,Skri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South America & USA - Katrina ($11,770).

19 Rotary International... Furthermore, for those who might think we are not supporting the Rotary International Foundation. Our Club has contributed $123,334 since it was founded on the 14th February 1921 and has in excess of 60 Paul Harris Fellows.

21 Fund Raising Fact! It is getting more difficult to raise monies... There are many reasons for this The need for financial aid seems to grow with every day. Commitments are spread over a wide horizon of needs. The same Dollar achieves less than it did in the past. No time anymore!! Etc., etc.

23 Founded in 2001 with the Mission... To establish a fund that will enable the Corning Rotary Club to maintain a significant level of funding for projects in the Community or to support projects in the Rotary world.

24 Why a Special Fund? Constant source of income once fund is established. Opportunity to keep your support for Rotary in the local club & community. Lessens the need for special membership assessments. Opportunity to make tax deductible contributions.

25 Administrated by... The Elmira-Corning Community Foundation: 1 Is responsible for all legal filings & continuous administration of fund. 2 Provides Investment & Security benefits to Club. 3 Sends out official donor receipts. 4 Provides Club with Monthly & Annual Reports.
