2 was established in 1388 It is currently the largest University in Germany ( students in 2017) Since 2012 is one of 11 German Universities of Excellence UoC is a full-range research University with particular research excellence in Life Sciences, Physics, Plant research, Global South Studies, Economics and International Law. We run 30+ PhD-Schools and Postgraduate Centres UoC holds 8 university-wide Partnerships and numerous Erasmus-exchange agreements with Turkish Universities March 2017

16 Finance Global Network Partnerships are not (only) about money! Financial specifications in the GNP-Agreement are indicative not absolute UoC currently allocated 50,000 for GNP activities Mostly mobility funds rededicated to this purpose Funding in terms of Seed Money Financial incentives to start a cooperation Preferred funding for mutual projects in teaching and research All supported activities should seek third party funding Global Network Partners are actively endeavoring third party funding for the partnerships Folie: 16

17 Governance GNP s support and promote cooperation The UoC has limited tools for governance Faculties and chairs are mostly autonomous Faculties are independent Financial incentives (through objectives, quality management, and central support of mobility) Proactive information and promotion to convince Extensive support and care by the Regional coordinators for each GNP Frequent and regular communication with faculties and research centers Folie: 17

18 Promotion and Internal Communication UoC initially had inefficient communication channels because: Many researchers are not aware of GNP Misconception of GNP activities as exclusive and centralized Insufficient top-down communication Direct communication through International Newsletter and regular meetings Address target-groups through mailing list and information at faculty meetings Web-based external communication through websites and social media Information on exchange activities and projects with GNP Regionally focused websites (North America, China, India, Japan, Africa)
