3 there are various home comforts available for you during your time on the ward. to request any of the complimentary items, simply ask the Friends of anchor ward assistant or a member of the nursing team to request anything from the list below. Dyson fans Bladeless fans are available throughout the ward to ensure you can keep cool when needed. Fresh fruit Individual packs of fresh fruits are on offer daily, providing a valuable source of vitamins. Toiletry packs (emergency only) These are available to anyone who is unexpectedly admitted to the in-patient wards to equip you with the basic necessities including toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shampoo, etc. Warming blankets Blankets are available on request for days that you wish to have the comfort of a cosy layer during your stay. Cool refreshments Ice lollies and mini ice cream pots are available for you daily. Home comforts Take a break Post treatment care Did you know? DVD players and extensive DVD library There are portable DVD players and a vast selection of DVDs available for your viewing pleasure during your stay. Please ask for the DVD menu which details the full list of films/box sets available. Games consoles These are fixed to TV sets ready to be rolled into your room and used from the comfort of your bedside or can be set up in the day room. Playstation, Wii and Xbox systems are available. Timeout activity book There is a multi-activity book filled with various puzzles and adult colouring pages as a welcome distraction to help you relax and enjoy some timeout. The ANCHOR Unit comprises Ward 112 (haematology in-patient ward), Ward 114 (oncology in-patient ward), Ward 310 (chemotherapy day unit), Ward 307 (haematology day clinic), Radiotherapy department and Clinic D (out-patient clinic).

Headwear From patterned chiffon scarves to simple colour block turbans there are head coverings available to suit everyone s individual taste and style. The first headwear is a gift and thereafter, you can purchase them for a 10 donation per item. Conditioner bottles Keep your scalp moisturised and healthy by requesting conditioner to help prevent dry scalp which can often be a side effect of treatment. Udderly Smooth cream (for Ward 114 patients) The nursing team will distribute this intensive moisturising cream when a case of severe dry skin occurs as a result of treatment. Anti-nausea Seabands and ginger chewing gum are available. The seabands work on the acupuncture points on your wrists to help alleviate nausea whilst the ginger chewing gum offers all-natural and fast-acting relief. Thermometers You will be given your own thermometer so you can monitor your temperature throughout the duration of your treatment. Post treatment care Want to know more? 8 Patient support all patient support services are FRee and available by appointment. You can easily book appointments in advance or on the day of your treatment so please see the Friends of anchor ward assistant or ask a member of the nursing staff for more information. Counselling and support Monday Friday There may well be a time during your stay that you need professional support or the comfort of a listening ear. Our clinical psychologist is here to help with oneto-one sessions for you or your relatives. Massage service Monday Friday Our Friends of ANCHOR massage therapists are available to offer relaxation and relief during your stay. The treatment will be completely bespoke to you and your needs. Podiatry Friday mornings Our podiatrist is available by appointment to treat dayto-day and more complex nail and foot conditions. Helping to keep your feet happy and healthy during your stay. Professional wig-styling and consultations Monday This complimentary service is available by appointment with our dedicated hair and wig stylist who is on hand for hair trims, wig referrals, consultations and restyling. Timeout sessions Monday Friday Our dedicated timeout coordinator is on hand to help pass the hours away while you are in hospital with board games, puzzles, foil art or a craft of your choosing. Physio for haemophilia patients Monday Friday Offers physiotherapy assessment and treatment for haemophilia patients. This service is available to anyone within this patient group who are experiencing problems with their joints or muscles, particularly in relation to bleeds. Friends of ANCHOR wellbeing services and provision is in place for you during your time in the unit.
