Peter strives to help patients by being mindful of the factors that assist further safe development of clinicians, and he has experience in a range of roles: EMT, paramedic, ECP, educator, manager, CCP, SAR and clinical governance on ground, air, maritime and disaster relief operations. Peter believes paramedicine is the best professional career and considers himself fortunate to operate in Australia, Europe, North America, South-East-Asia and the Middle East. He now wants to share this experience and knowledge base effectively with his peers to assist the ongoing development of the profession. Simone Haigh (Tasmania based) Simone was initially elected as a Director of the PA Board in Following a three-year term Simone is now seeking re-election in order to continue the projects and work she is undertaking while utilising the experience and skills gained during this period. Nathan s continuing vision is to take inside care outside where pre-hospital and in-hospital medicine can unite and share education and information that benefits best patient care and outcomes while delivering up-to-date evidence based practice. As the paramedic industry approaches registration for 2018, Nathan strongly believes that this is a crucial time to support our current working paramedics where they can smoothly transition to registered paramedic.

A grateful beneficiary of professional paramedic care, Philip is honoured to support PA and its members. Having completed a three-year term as a Community Director of PA, Philip believes he still has much to offer PA in governance and strategic management activities and is seeking re-election for a further term. Michael Eburn (Australian Capital Territory based) BCom, LLB, BA(Hons), LLM, MPET, PhD Michael hopes to bring to the Board his extensive and critical knowledge and understanding of the legal issues facing paramedics, paramedic practice and registration of Australian paramedics under the Health Practitioner National Law. As a barrister and academic, Michael practises independence and critical analysis. His cultural and professional background means he is well positioned to represent the views and opinions of members of the wider community in relation to paramedicine and paramedic services in both Australia and New Zealand. Lyn Murphy (New Zealand based) Having 23 years experience lecturing in health, leadership and organisational behavior, Lyn s portfolio includes an extensive history of community service. She possesses a diverse academic background in education, health, psychology, management and accounting and has served on a number of New Zealand boards including local body and government directorships. She has strong professional, government and community links and well established international networks in the public administration, health and education sectors. Currently lecturing for first year students completing the Health Science Degree at Auckland University of Technology, Lyn holds a PhD in accounting and academic qualifications in management, psychology and occupational therapy. Lyn is an elected member of Counties Manukau District Health Board, past member of the Northern Y Regional Ethics Committee, and past Vice-President on the New Zealand Chapter of the International Society of Pharmaco-economics and Outcomes Research. Lyn cares passionately about the successful development of a strong health workforce, using her natural leadership skills to promote a supportive and collegiate environment. She relishes the idea of using her governance skills with Paramedics Australasia.
9 Amit Prasad (New Zealand based) Amit is a qualified accounting/finance professional offering comprehensive business and financial acumen, sound business judgement, an awareness of business management practices and depth and breadth of experience that informs judgement. His professional development and leadership experience spans six countries including China and the USA. He has worked within a number of jurisdictions and has enjoyed working with associations in countries across the globe. His executive role as Director of Finance with the University of Auckland Business School is responsible for leading a team to provide strategic direction and leadership within budget responsibility in excess of $110m. Amit has the curiosity to ask questions and the courage to persistently challenge management and fellow board members where necessary to ensure the organisation s interests are at the forefront. Her current role is midwifery adviser to the Australian College of Midwives and manager of the Policy and Professional Practice Unit. She has recently completed a three year term as a Director on the Canberra YWCA Board, is currently a member of the inaugural executive committee of The Pier accommodation complex (Canberra), and a member of the Canberra Theatre Advisory Committee. Offering extensive experience in financial and overall governance, risk management, financial planning, organisational strategy and communication including membership, policy development, lobbying, stakeholder and community engagement and community development via social media. Mark Woodard (New Zealand based) Mark s current role is Director of Corporate Services/CFO at PHARMAC, the New Zealand Crown pharmaceutical buying agency (similar to PBAC), where he manages $1 billion in spending. Previously he has served as CEO of four different organisations and, importantly, one previous role was as the establishment manager of the New Zealand National Ambulance Sector Office. NASO is the joint venture for ambulance matters between the two main government funders. One of Mark s reasons for serving in the establishment role for NASO is that he was a paramedic in the 1970s in the USA. It has been many years since he has worked in the field; and while he retains a connection and passion for emergency services, his career has moved in a different direction. He acknowledges that one of the criteria for the PA Community Director position excludes paramedics.
