Signature Services title MELANIE PEAVY, MPT, RN, BSN, IS A LICENSED PHYSICAL THERAPIST WITH ADVANCED TRAINING IN SPINAL CARE. THIS THERAPY PROGRAM IS THE LATEST ADDITION TO THE SPINE PROGRAM AT TRMC. dtgdsgergre While Tift Regional provides signatures services in areas ranging from neurodiagnostics to women s services, there were two in particular that made significant strides in The first was the addition of an outpatient spine therapy center to our growing spine program. In addition to two orthopedic spine surgeons on the hospital s medical staff, TRMC began offering a service with a specific focus on spinal physical therapy. The therapy includes a variety of techniques ranging from myofascial release to spinal mobilization/manipulation, as well as the latest approaches to spinal mechanical traction and pain-relieving modalities. The Heart and Vascular Center
continued to offer the best in cardiac care. With a team of skilled and seasoned cardiologists and vascular surgeons, the Heart and Vascular Center centralizes a wide range of cardiac and blood circulation diagnostic and treatment services in one state-ofthe-art facility. The center is also participating as one of only 10 Georgia hospitals to take part in a national clinical trial of a life-saving heart procedure. The three-year study plans to demonstrate, as found in other studies, that hospitals can safely perform an angioplasty procedure called Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) without having open-heart surgery as a back-up measure in case of complications. THE HEART AND VASCULAR CENTER AT TIFT REGIONAL CONTINUES TO OFFER STATE-OF-THE- ART CARE TO THE RESIDENTS IN SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA, INCLUDING PARTICIPATING IN A NATIONAL CLINICAL TRIAL FOR PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTIONS.
Quality Care title PICTURED LEFT TO RIGHT ARE TRMC S DR. WILLIAM GUEST, GEORGIA HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION CHAIRMAN CHUCK ORRICK, TRMC S MINDY MCSTOTT AND GEORGIA HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT JOSEPH PARKER DURING THE PRESENTATION OF THE HOSPITAL S QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY AWARD. Caring for patients is always at the heart of every decision and action taken at TRMC. Quality of care and patient satisfaction initiatives are areas where extra attention is paid from an employee s first day at the hospital. During each new employee s orientation, the importance of the patient experience is stressed again and again. All employees are taught to exceed the expectations of patients and their families. To monitor how well Tift Regional is doing, the hospital began using a new methodology of surveying former patients about their experiences in Written surveys are sent to
their homes using a national surveying company. The results are then compared not only to other hospitals in Georgia, but also on a national level. TRMC continued to score in the top percentiles for its outpatient services and outpatient surgeries in There were also several projects put into action aimed at enhancing the quality of patient care. A new medication reconciliation procedure was put into place, working to further reduce the possibility of medication errors. New processes were put into place for the reduction of infections and patient falls and for improved education and care of pediatric asthma. TO TRACK ITS PROGRESS, TRMC PARTICIPATES WITH OTHER HOSPITALS THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND NATION IN PATIENT SATISFACTION SURVEYING. WITH THE ADDITION OF ROOM SERVICE FOR ALL PATIENTS, THE TRMC FOOD SERVICES DEPARTMENT WAS RATED THE BEST PROGRAM IN TWO OF THE FOUR QUARTERS IN THE TRMC AUXILIARY WAS ALSO NAMED THE BEST VOLUNTEER GROUP IN TIFTON.
New Additions title dtgdsgergre As healthcare needs continued to grow, so did TRMC s facility and service needs. The most visible addition to Tift Regional was the new Intensive Care Unit. With 20 beds and more than 37,500 square feet, the stateof-the-art facility is equipped with the latest telemetry monitoring equipment and critical care technology. Patient rooms have much more space, family areas have been provided and nursing monitoring stations are located outside of each room. A program focusing on our youngest of patients was added this year--the child life specialist program. LAUREL BRANCH, A CHILD-LIFE SPECIALIST, WORKS WITH PEDIATRIC PATIENTS AT TRMC TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT S HAPPENING WITH THEIR CARE, AS WELL AS PREPARING THEM FOR UPCOMING PROCEDURES. THIS EFFORT IS PROVING TO REDUCE STRESS LEVELS AND DECREASE THE NEED FOR SEDATION.
Child life specialists focus on the emotional, social and developmental needs of hospitalized children and adolescents, reducing the need for some sedatives and pain medication for children by helping them to prepare for and cope with what s happening to them. Another advancement was the addition of a new therapeutic laser system called LaserPrism which can help physical and occupational therapists reduce pain and promote healing in patients recovering from injury or suffering from chronic disease. THE NEW INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, LOCATED ON THE THIRD FLOOR OF TRMC ON 20TH STREET, OFFERS BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AS WELL AS THE BEST TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS.
