2 b. Alumni Professional Development Seminar Invited three industry experts to campus to share knowledge with UH Alumni regarding transitioning out of the oil and gas industry, expanding professional networks, transferring skills to a new industry and free training opportunities. There were over 50 alumni that attended the evening event. There was a positive response from both the alumni and the guest speakers. Several alumni requested to be invited to all future alumni professional development seminar events. UCS plans to continue to host an Alumni Professional development Seminar every summer at minimum. c. Career Programs for Veteran Students. Created a meaningful connections with Veteran Students and Employers. UCS, Veteran Services, and Student Veterans of America planned an employer networking lunch event that included an employer panel. This is a major accomplishment because there has not been career programs for Veteran Students at UH. There were fifteen employers that attended and over 50 Veteran Students. There was an overwhelming positive response from both the students and employers, and UCS is making plans to coordinate a spring 2016 event with Veteran Services. UCS also partnered with Apple to deliver a resume workshops specifically to address Veteran needs. d. Attracting Employers Fall The number of employers that attended the fall career and internship fair was at an all-time high. Seventy-five of the top employers throughout Houston, Texas and beyond came to campus to hire UH students for careers and internships in management and leadership positions. During the employers meetings, employers conveyed that UH is their top school for recruiting. Employers look to UH students and graduates, posting 3,639 and 584 internships through Cougar Pathway between September 1and December 31, Through employer outreach efforts, UCS has attracted bigger name employers such as Halliburton, Kellogg, NASA, Apple, and Amazon. (See Employer Development and Relations utilization report for details) e. Attracting Employers Spring The Spring 2016 Career and Internship Fair was the largest ever career fair hosted by UCS with 86 employers and 1,285 students and alumni in attendance. In addition, since the Campus Jobs for Coogs Fair inception in 2009, the 2016 fair had the largest attendance of 955 students. f. Funding for Career Programs. After UCS made its budget presentation that included advances made to UCS, feedback from student and employers regarding new industry specific career programs/fairs, the Student Fees Advisory Committee (SFAC) recommended UCS receive a onetime allocation (10% of current budget) for FY16 to continue with spring 2016 career programs. Without this funding, it would be a challenge to provide career programs to help top employers connect with UH students. g. Delivered Pilot Career Course. To make maximum use of career services resources, one of UCS s goal is to integrate career services in existing career courses. This includes working with Education, CLASS, and HRM faculty that currently teach internship, junior and senior level courses. Additionally, UCS partnered with the Interim Dean of CLASS to offer a pilot career course for CLASS students. In the class, students assessed their skills, created a career plan, learned about careers related to their major, perfected their resume and cover letter, learned interview techniques, and how to position themselves through personal branding. The skills acquired from this course prepared students and built their confidence to meet employers at the fall career and internship fairs, which is dedicated to CLASS students. h. Engagement and Marketing. UCS improved its marketing to students and employers by fully carrying out a comprehensive marketing plan that was developed last spring. This plan also included being more active with our social media which helped to improve and increase engagement with our followers, thereby strengthening the UCS brand identity as well as growing the number of subscribers to our various social media profiles. In the spring UCS will begin DSA Semi-Annual and Annual Report Outline 2

This is due to increased marketing and allowing UH system schools to attend the event. Based on the evaluations, we will continue to utilize and social media to market the event to students.
