12 Dos and DON Ts Do Be on time for info sessions and interviews (5 10 minutes early) Ask questions during the session; your goal is to make a good impression Allow recruiters to eat first or offer to get them something at the reception Connect with alumni at the session and schedule follow up time Take notes about what differentiates them from their competitors (they will ask you about this in an interview) Apply on time for resume drops (typically open for at least two weeks) Customize cover letters and e mails, and any other correspondence like thank you notes Don t Be late/no show if you RSVP d Fall asleep Dress inappropriately Text, use a computer or phone during the session Be silent and unengaged Ask silly questions Head straight for the food during the reception Cut & Paste for cover letters without carefully proofreading!

13 Current Offer Policies Extending Offers Official offers must be in writing. Written offers are defined as electronic or hard copies. The start of the offer timeline is determined by the date on the written offer letter. Full Time Students receiving a full time offer from a summer internship should be given until October 30 th or later to decide. Students should be given three weeks to respond to full time offers from fall campus recruiting. Exploding Offers The Jones School does not condone exploding offers (i.e. offers with high pressure response time of less than two weeks). Companies extending such offers may be banned from on campus recruiting at the Jones School.

14 Student Recruiting Policies Reminder On Campus Recruiting Should NOT apply for a position and/or provide a resume to a company unless willing to interview AND potentially accept a position with that company. Must honor all interview commitments. If a student decides not to proceed with scheduling an interview they are selected for, they must decline as soon as possible via OWL Careers, to allow employers sufficient time to backfill their interview schedules with alternate candidates. Must cancel a scheduled interview online no later than two business days prior to the scheduled interview. If it is necessary to cancel an interview less than two business days before a scheduled interview and it is no longer possible to cancel it online, the student must notify the CDO immediately. If the interview is off campus, the student must contact the company directly as soon as possible. The following policy violations will result in the loss of your recruiting privileges: Missing a scheduled interview without the proper notice as outlined below Continuing to interview after accepting a job offer, regardless of whether or not the interview or accepted job is facilitated by the CDO Reneging (declining an offer once accepted) on an internship or full time offer that has been verbally accepted or accepted in writing
