1 Application The Alvin Yellowjacket Booster Club is comprised of volunteers working with the Alvin High School Athletic Department, coaches, parents, athletes and community to raise funds, promote spirit and volunteerism and to make a donation back to the athletic department as needed. A goal of the AYBC is to provide more scholarships to Alvin High School s graduating senior athletes. Every year, AYBE offers AHS seniors thousands of dollars in scholarships! The AYBC Scholarship package has been re-tooled to provide an easier process to apply for these scholarships. Be sure to read below for additional requirements, information, and submission process to ensure that all criteria are met. Good luck! REQUIREMENTS Applicant must be a graduating senior who has participated in Alvin High School athletics for a minimum of three years. Scholarship Coversheet see attached Complete the Alvin ISD Local Scholarship Application; see AHS website Section I. Academic Resume Typed letter to AYBC Scholarship Committee sharing: o Why are you an athlete? What is your workout ethic? o Do you compete on teams such as a travel or club sports? o Who is your athletic mentor and why? o What are your best and worst characteristics? o Have you completed any volunteer hours during your years at AHS, if so how many and doing what activities? o What are your goals and plans for the future include the college or university you have applied for or have been accepted at and what your field of study will be. o Will you continue to play sports in college? Have you signed a NCAA National Letter of Intent and if so, for what sport? Did you receive an academic award from the university? o Do you have a financial need? Teacher Recommendation & Letter from an AHS teacher see attached. Coach Recommendation Form see attached. Assistant Principal s Eligibility Report see attached. SUBMISSION PROCESS All documents must be submitted to Mr. Fitzwater by the scholarship turn in date, no exceptions. Student are responsible to submit the Scholarship Coversheet, Section 1 Local Scholarship Application, Academic Resume, and AYBC Scholarship Committee letter to Mr. Fitzwater. Student provides coach, teacher, and assistant principal their forms for completion. AHS Coach Recommendation Form, Teacher Recommendation & Letter, and Assistant Principal Eligibility Report are submitted in a sealed envelope by the faculty member to Mr. Fitzwater, not to the student. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Payment of the scholarship will be mailed directly to the college or university from Mr. Fitzwater s office. No payment will be mailed or made payable to the student or their family. Scholarship money must be used by February 1 after graduation from high school. No exceptions.
