Description: Informal introductory and Q&A session for anyone interested in getting involved and learning more about PPLM and other opportunities E-SToPP has to offer. 2 Saturday of Service. Description: Field days for volunteers and youth to participate in sports, mentoring, and other team-building activities in juvenile justice facilities, educational alternative outreach programs, and/or transitional group homes. Attend Saturday of Service Training & Team Meetings. 3 Tuesday PPLM Volunteer at Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) Correctional Center. Description: Volunteers and incarcerated youth participate in dialogic circles, goalsetting, problem solving, and positive peer leadership mentoring reentry activities. MDCRD (TGK) Registered Volunteer Background Check. Attend TGK PPLM Volunteer Training & Team Meetings. 1

2 4 Wednesday PPLM Volunteer at Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). Description: Dialogic circles for volunteers and incarcerated youth to participate in goalsetting, problem solving, and positive peer leadership mentoring reentry activities. DJJ (JDC) Registered Volunteer Background Check. Attend JDC PPLM Volunteer Training & Team Meetings. 5 Thursday Volunteer at Everglades Correctional Institute (ECI). Description: Volunteers participate in periodic Prison Reentry & Resource Fairs to facilitate Positive Peer Leadership Mentoring strategic planning with inmates who seek change in their lives. (FDC) Everglades Correctional Institute (ECI) Clearance Request and/or Attend ECI PPLM Volunteer Training & Team Meetings. 6 E-SToPP Freedom School Summer Program. Description: Servant leader internship for university volunteers and high-risk youth to co-create freedom school curriculum that involves positive peer leadership mentoring, academic, literacy, citizenship, arts, recreation, and entrepreneurial project-based learning. Stipend provided. Attend Freedom School Servant Leader Internship Training & Team Meetings. 7 Summer Southern Education Foundation Leadership Initiative (SELI) Fellowship. Description: SELI fellow works on small assignments, intensive research, organizing, communications, and analysis projects for interrelated education-focused programs. Apply through E-SToPP s partner, Southern Education Foundation (due March 1). Stipend provided. PPLM Volunteer Application Form & SELI Workplan. Attend SELI Fellow Training & Team Meetings. 2

3 8 Course Credit Internship. Description: Course credit internship through E-SToPP is attained by applying through the university/college you attend. Attend Course Credit Internship Training & Team Meetings. 9 PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship (pending). Description: PPLM Reentry Mentoring Program trains reentry mentors to facilitate their 1-1 matched mentee s reentry and transition from the juvenile justice system to the community, family, and school. PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship provides volunteers who are interested, yet have little or no experience, our hands-on mentorship with youth who are incarcerated or are preparing for reentry to family, school, and community. PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship supports course credit, internships, fellowships, Federal Work Study hours, and/or volunteer community service opportunities. Certificate of Completion provided. Attend PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship Training and Team Meetings. 10 PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship Training Cohort (pending). Description: Join a multidisciplinary cohort of 40 mentors-in-training! PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship Training Cohorts is a one-year experiential training program to facilitate mentors support of mentees reentry and transition from the juvenile justice system to their community, family, and school. By providing experiential training, we are preparing our next generation of teachers, faculty, case managers, lawyers, social workers, psychologists, criminal justice, businesses, organizations, entrepreneurs, and others to competently support the goals, strengths, and needs of youth who are at-risk, incarcerated, and reentering school, family, and community from the juvenile justice system. Stipend provided. One-year PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship Certificate of Completion. Attend PPLM Reentry Program Mentorship Training Cohorts and Team Meetings. 3

4 11 Community Public Relations Volunteer. Description: Volunteers participate in periodic Walking One Stops, Reentry Hubs, and Reentry Fairs in trauma- and violence-burdened neighborhoods to survey and support residents reentry needs and goals. Attend Community Public Relations Volunteer Training & Team Meetings. 12 Prison Fair Public Relations Volunteer. Description: Volunteers participate in periodic Prison Reentry & Resource Fairs to survey and support inmates needs and goals as returning citizens. (USDOJ) Federal Bureau of Prisons Security Clearance Form. Attend Prison Fair Public Relations Volunteer Training & Team Meetings. 13 PPLM Newsletter Team. Description: PPLM Newsletters are a team effort to publish youths writing. Youth write the contents for the newsletters during PPLM sessions. A team of volunteers transcribe youths writings; analyze the contents thematically; create, design, and illustrate the newsletter; and publish the final product for distribution throughout the community. Attend Newsletter Team Training & Team Meetings. 14 PPLM Pen Pal Mentoring Team. Description: PPLM Pen Pal Mentoring Program is a group letter writing project. University student (or professional) groups collectively write letters of encouragement to incarcerated youth. These letters provide youth with tangible hope and dreams for rising above their struggles. These letters are anonymous and approved by E-SToPP board members. They are distributed in mass to youth during a PPLM session. Each youth is given the opportunity to read and/or comment on his or her letter aloud. Attend Pen Pal Mentoring Training & Team Meetings. 4

5 15 E-SToPP Web Design & Social Media Team. Description: Volunteers advance community awareness and engagement with E-SToPP s mission and vision through social media, including its website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, social app development project, and more. Attend Web Design & Social Media Training & Team Meetings. 16 Walking One Stops & Reentry Hubs Team. Description: Brainstorm, plan, and design marketing strategies and activities that draw parents and children/youth to these community events where they can learn more about programs E-SToPP has to offer. Attend Walking One Stops & Reentry Hubs Team Training & Team Meetings. 17 Saturday of Service Team. Description: Network, plan, and schedule field days for volunteers and youth to participate in sports, mentoring, and other team-building activities in juvenile justice facilities, educational alternative outreach programs, and/or transitional group homes. Attend Saturday of Service Training & Team Meetings. 18 Keeping Parents/Caregivers Informed Team. Description: Contact parents/caregivers of young men and women in the juvenile justice facilities and inform them of the various programs E-SToPP has to offer. Attend Keeping Parents Informed Training & Team Meetings. 19 Grant Writing Team. Description: Collaborate to write Children s Trust (and other) grants that fund E-SToPP s Summer, After-School, and Reentry Programs, including our Freedom Schools Summer Program. 6 20 Concession/Online Fundraiser Team. Description: At least 10 core volunteers who operate a concession stand for E-SToPP during Dolphins and University of Miami home games at the New Miami Stadium.
