Learn how courses and transfer credits can be associated with one or more degrees, allowing separate transcripts to be produced for each degree with discrete GPAs and credit totals. Presenter: Marta Bauer, EMPOWER A Tutorial on Direct Loan Reconciliation and Year-End Closeout Learn how one school completes their Direct Loan monthly reconciliation and the documentation saved for audit purposes. This session will review a step by step process for year-end reconciliation, files to request on demand from COD, use of FA/COD and FA/DRQ in EMPOWER for transaction comparison, and requesting closeout of the aid year on COD. Presenter: Roger Maki-Schramm, Michigan School of Professional Psychology Demystifying the Estimated Tuition Worksheet What is an estimated tuition worksheet (ETW) and how is it used? This pre-billing statement provides students with tuition, housing and other charges and the portion that will be covered by financial aid. ETWs don t need to be the same for all students. This session will present some new tips and tricks for various steps of the COD process, such as promissory note loading, entrance/exit counseling, PLUS borrower data, sending and receiving results, and the reconciliation process in EMPOWER. Presenter: Barb Holder, EMPOWER Loading Billing Transactions As Easy As Did you know you can load billing transactions into EMPOWER that are stored outside the system? Learn how to use the Generic Payment Load to take transaction information like new charges or a list of payments from a spreadsheet and load it into a student s account in the Billing module. Presenter: Megan Charley, EMPOWER Information Management: The EMPOWER Easy Button Every institution of higher learning accumulates an ever increasing number of paper and electronic records. The RADIX document management system consolidates all of the collections that are currently being maintained in various locations, reducing duplication and wasted time filing and locating documents. RADIX provides a single repository that can be accessed by any authorized user that has a browser and access to the internet. RADIX is tightly integrated to EMPOWER to make this process seamless. How to Refine Your Search for Data Getting data out of EMPOWER is just as important as putting the data in. Functions like SR/CK and SR/CL sometimes give you too much data. Students are now able to submit a request to be withdrawn or go on leave of absence via a web screen. Administrators can handle pending requests via the Action Log, providing approved return dates along with additional information. The Detroit Promise is a scholarship program in which Detroit students are offered the ability to attend either two or four years of college tuition-free. This session will highlight the enhanced process where users can run all ISIR load screens with one button and view the results, or run and view the results for a particular step. In addition, learn how this screen can be set up as an automated process, such as a nightly run, that will automatically load in any new ISIRs and notify users of the load results.
