5 Overview PURPOSE The District of Sechelt recognizes the vital role non-profit and charitable organizations play in ensuring the social, cultural, and environmental well-being of our community Financial assistance to community organizations to support programs, projects, services, and events that benefit the citizens of Sechelt

6 OBJECTIVES Overview Complement or extend the reach of the District of Sechelt s programs and services. Encourage and support civic engagement and volunteerism. Enhance the quality of life for the residents of the District of Sechelt.

7 Transparent and consistent process for inviting, receiving and evaluating requests for grants from all eligible organizations that deliver programs, services and events in the District of Sechelt On average, we process applications each year Overview Applications are reviewed for basic eligibility by staff, then adjudicated by the CIP Grant Review Committee Recommendations of the CIP Grant Review Committee are sent to the Finance Culture and Economic Development Committee for consideration, and then to Council for approval

8 Overview Summary of the 2017 CIP Grants We received requests for $119,765 in one-time funding, and we provided $52,690 in one-time annual grants The median ask was $4,750, the median grant awarded was $1,500 5 programs were recommended for Standing Grants (multi-year funding) totalling $87,975 in grants Total of all grants was $140,665

Overview You are a Registered Charity (CRA) and/or Registered Non-Profit (BC Registry of Societies) You have submitted a FINAL REPORT demonstrating appropriate use of funds for all previous projects funded through the District of Sechelt s Community Investment Program.

10 Is my organization eligible to apply? Overview You are requesting funds for a program, project, service, or event that will directly benefit the citizens of Sechelt. The program aligns with one of the following categories: Arts, Culture & Recreation Social & Environmental Community Development

14 Program Information Application Form Be clear, concise and direct (what, how, and why) How will the community benefit? Support & partnerships Describe in detail how grant funds will be used Measures for success

16 Budget Form Show support from a variety of sources: earned, contributed, donated this demonstrates sustainability & community support If you must buy it, list the actual cost Donations: what would it cost to buy it? In-kind labour: what would they normally charge? Volunteer labour: estimate at $15/hr

19 Application Other Required Documents List of Board of Directors Certificate of Registration/Incorporation Prepared Financial Statements (Notice to Reader) OR Society-Produced Financial Statements + Balance Sheet signed by 2 Directors

26 Process Grant Conditions Use the grant funds for approved eligible purposes Recognize the District of Sechelt on all promotional materials Submit a final report to the District of Sechelt to ensure accountability for the use of public funds

27 Final Report Mandatory for grant recipients Provide info on how the grant was spent. Failure to submit may affect future applications Due Monday December 18 th
