Project Details: Objectives To Create lyophilization facility at larger scale so that all cultures will be maintained in a lyophilized form which is the preferred method for preserving all microbial strains. To develop rapid identification of bacteria, fungi and some algae using 16S (or 238) ribosomal DNA gene. This technique is suitable for 1) viable on nonviable material 2) Organisms with complex growth requirements 3) gram variable isolates. 4 Newly created facilities like sequencing and Lyophilization are currently operated under service mode, which is also fetching ECF from private, industries and academia. We authenticated NCIM strain bank using DNA sequencing facility created at NCIM and we save revenue that was going outside. In addition to this, NCIM is also earning cash flow from industries and academia. Overall, CSC0407 project has been very much beneficial in upgradation of facilities of NCIM resource centre. 7.
