4 2 - Who can participate: Eligibility Mandatory: - At least Three legal entities from Europe Union: Each of the three shall be established in a different Member State (28) or Horizon 2020 Associated Countries (16). All three legal entities shall be independent of each other. AND - At least Three different legal entities from India

Europe: Not-for-profit: - Universities/Research Institutes - Universities of Applied Science - Research Organisations - NGOs etc. For-Profit: - SME (< 250 employees) - Mid-Caps ( employees) - Larger companies India Public & Private Academic/Research Organisation - Recognised Universities/Academic Institutions(public/private) - National R&D Laboratories Private Industry Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) recognised by DSIR DBT funds industry: maximum grant available to industry is Rs. 1.5 CRORES per project subject to matching contribution from industry. 51% Indian corpus i.e share holding DST no sealing

7 3 Basic requirements Size of consortium: no limit on number of participants ( ) Duration of the Project: 3 to 5 years (Indian funding 3 years) Develop new and/or adapt suitable innovative and affordable solutions for Indian conditions, both in urban and rural areas Transfer of European Knowledge and Technologies to future inhouse replication/ field conditions Design, development and deployment of technologies should be integral part The activities have their centre of gravity at TRL 3-6.

9 3 - Partner search tools CORDIS: Research OR CORDIS is the Research and Technological Development (RTD) platform of the EU, including several on-line databases and partner search CaRE: Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials The National Contact Points CaRE for H2020 has a partnering tool that supports potential applicants to the Horizon 2020 Work programme of the Societal Challenge 5 "Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials in finding partners and building a consortium for a project proposal EEN (The European Enterprise Network) targets SMEs: EEN Search page The EEN helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make the most of business opportunities in the EU and beyond. It covers 17 key sectors that can be relevant to LIFE.

10 4 Funding Modalities Total Funding: 30 million euros 15 million euros from European Commission 10 million euros from DST 5 million euros from DBT Funding per project: 3 to 5 million euros (Indian + European) Budget sharing: as per the project proposal -to be decided by consortium Funding rate: Europe: up to 100% reimbursement of eligible costs (for both public and/or private) to European partners only India: up to 100% reimbursement of eligible costs to Indian partners only

11 5 - Registration on the European Commission Participant Portal To be able to use the Participant Portal Submission Service, it's mandatory that you have: an ECAS account: register yourself through the European Commission Authentication Service (ECAS) in order to access the IT tools of the Participant Portal. a PIC number: the 9-digit Participant Identification Code is used to identify organisations throughout the different steps of a project's life cycle.

12 5 - How to register for an ECAS account? European Commission Authentication Service (ECAS): allowing users most of the digital systems. Access the register link (available on the Participant Portal below the "Login" button). Fill in the registration form using your individual professional address. A confirmation will be sent to your mailbox; click on the link within said to be redirected to the "ECAS password initialisation" page. Note: This link will only be valid within one hour and a half following the request.

13 5 - How to obtain a PIC number? Participant Identification Code (PIC): is 9 digits unique identifier of your organization and will be used as a reference by the Commission in any interactions Participants will not have to submit their legal and financial each time when they submit proposal, but just PIC Follow : ml Is your organisation already registered? 14 5 - Register your organisation As soon as you have your ECAS Account you can login to the Participant Portal and register your organisation. You can find the process on a step by step guide on Participant Portal (click here) Supporting documents for registration: before you start you should have copies of the following documents ready: - Copies of the certificate on the state registration (for private organisations), law/decree (for public entities), Treaty (for international organisations) - VAT/GST Extract (if applicable) - Copies of Statutes (if entity declares non-profit status) etc. In larger organisations like public institutions or universities your organisation might already registered. Before you register your organisation make sure it not already registered. The system will ask you about that. In large organisations with multiple departments belonging to the same organisation (a single legal entity), units or departments cannot participate as separate entities in H2020 projects. Therefore, all departments must use the same PIC that is assigned to the organisation being the legal entity. At the end of your registration the system will give you a Number called PIC (Participant Identification Code). You can use this number only 48 hours after the registration, so make sure you finish the process in advance.

17 6 Overall Budgeting in Part A in Euros The total budget corresponds to the amount covered in Part A of the application. Ineligible costs: deductible VAT/GST, losses due to fluctuation of exchange rates, interest owed, provisions for future losses or debts Indian Partner indicative budget in EUR with NO request of grant from EC

19 6 Detailed Budgeting in Part B in Euros EU Side Direct costs (staff charges, costs for outsourced assignments, travel, auditor s report, translations, services, purchase of materials etc.) Indirect costs (e.g. rent, internet, heat, telephone and electricity). Indian Side Direct costs: man power (JRF, SRF, RA, TA etc.), consumables, travel cost (domestic and international), fieldwork, laboratory equipment, demonstration plant including construction, civil/electrical/mechanical works and contingency, training and awareness Indirect costs overhead charges: as per DST and DBT norms

22 6 - Submission Procedure H2020 Participant Portal 1. Submitted in the electronic submission system before the deadline Acknowledgement of Receipt 2. Complete (requested administrative forms + proposal description + supporting documents) 3. Readable, accessible and printable 4. Respecting page limit (RIA: 70 pages) o Outside 70 page limit: participating organisations (operational capacity check) CV or profile description of staff carrying out the work A list of up to 5 publications and/or other research or innovation products. A list of up to 5 relevant previous projects/activities Relevant available infrastructure/equipment Description of additional third parties contributing to the work ethics self assessment, data management plan (open access to peer-reviewed scientific publications)

25 7 - Proposal evaluation basic principles Excellence, transparency, fairness and impartiality and efficiency and speed Done by independent experts o Balance in terms of 1. Skills, experience and knowledge 2. Other factors geographical diversity gender where appropriate, the private and public sectors an appropriate turnover from year to year o No conflict of interest!

26 7 - Evaluation: Selection criteria Extent that proposed work corresponds to the topic description in the work programme Excellence o o o o Clarity and pertinence of the objectives Soundness of the concept, and credibility of the proposed methodology Extent that proposed work is beyond the state of the art, and demonstrates innovation potential (e.g. ground-breaking objectives, novel concepts and approaches, new products, services or business and organisational models) Appropriate consideration of interdisciplinary approaches and, where relevant, use of stakeholder knowledge.

27 7 - Evaluation: Selection criteria Implementation o o o o Quality and effectiveness of the work plan, including extent to which resources assigned in work packages are in line with objectives/ deliverables Appropriateness of management structures and procedures, including risk and innovation management Complementarity of the participants which the consortium as a whole brings together expertise Appropriateness of allocation of tasks, ensuring that al participants have a valid role and adequate resources in the project to fulfill that role 1 5

28 7 - Evaluation: Selection criteria Impac t o o o The extent to which the outputs would contribute to the expected impacts listed in the work programme under the relevant topic Any substantial impacts not mentioned in the WP, that would enhance innovation capacity; create new market opportunities, strengthen competitiveness and growth of companies, address issues related to climate change or the environment, or bring other important benefits for society Quality of proposed measures to exploit and disseminate project results (including IPR, manage research data where relevant); communicate the project activities to different target audiences
