Georgette Yakman, founder of STEAM.edu will provide the following services as part of the training of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) Grant : previsit evaluation, on site administration and development of certification program, and staff training. CONTRACT TERM: The initial contract term shall commence January 22, 2014 and continue until September 30, RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Stephanie Archer, Director of School Choice, and Cari Kupec, Project Director of Magnet Schools Assistance Program to approve the attached agreement with STEAM Education, Georgette Yakman, in the amount of $44,500 for the three (3) year term of the awarded grant. 7 STEAM Education Staff & School Certification Package Proposal Golfview ES, McNair ES & Stone MS s & Palm Bay HS Brevard Co, FL Elementary & Middle School s Staff Training & High School Certification Program Palm Bay Magnet High School STEAM Program Certification with Portfolio: Year One: $17,500 (2 day training 90% minimum, consultant travel 4x s) Year Two: $4,500 (PD update, consultant travel, portfolio review) Year Three: $4,500 (PD update, consultant travel, portfolio review) Sub Total: $26,500, quarterly payments invoiced by STEAM.edu Palm Bay Includes: pre visit evaluation, 4 days minimum on site administration and teacher certification, 3 day on or off site specific program work for each this school, for development & certification program plan, 2 3 days for this school of on site PD towards program certification final evaluation and certification for following year. Palm Bay pre visit work: evaluation of current curricula, community demographics, program longrange plan and concepts for why and how your school & the school system wish to move towards using a STEAM framework. I would want information from you two weeks prior to the scheduled on site days. This begins the portfolio process. Off Site Day 3, 4 & 5 Create custom plans for PBMHS s school s implementation and sustainability framework for PBMHS. Palm Bay On Site Year one transition assistance and PD: Three 1 day visits to be able to work with the teachers at PBMHS for; STEAM program updates, framework and curricula help, and program evaluation and updates towards program certification. (Fall, Winter & Spring) Program Certification: quarterly evaluations included with requested PD portfolio requirement completion = certificate of program certification for the following year *Programs meeting requirements are eligible for PD update and renewal package for each subsequent continuous year at a reduced price to year one. This primarily involves updating and submitting an annual portfolio and a minimum of one on site evaluation and PD update. Scope of Work STEAM.EDU SSA KC MSAP Funding Cari Kupec
8 McNair/Golfview/Stone/Palm Bay: On site Day 1 &2, 3 & 4 Feb 17 & 18: Staff training for people: (CT s, STEAM Dept Heads & few admin or other key personnel) Feb 19 & 20: Staff training for people: (MESH teachers, teacher leaders, guidance and a few from each school) (Each day after the training sessions tour a different one of the four schools. At some point on one off these days or the day prior to this, meet with the central administration team, curriculum leaders and school leaders looking to implement this program. (District could plan an evening community event, open house or board presentation.) McNair/Golfview: On Site Day 6, 7 June 2 3: Staff training for people: Golfview ES & McNair MS McNair MS (20 25 attendees) 33 teachers on staff Golfview ES (20 25 attendees) 57 teachers on staff Palm Bay/Stone: On Site Day 8, 9 June 4 5 Staff training Stone MS & Palm Bay HS Palm Bay HS (20 25 attendees) 90% must be trained for school certification 101 teachers on staff Stone MS (20 25 attendees) 59 teachers on staff Year One: Feb Cost: $11,500 inclusive of training and travel for 4 days Year Two: June Cost: $6,500 inclusive of training and travel for 4 days Sub Total Cost: $18,000 Quarterly Payments invoiced by STEAM.edu TOTAL CONTRACT: $ 44,500 Pending Board approved Sales and Service Agreement with all exhibits included, quarterly payments Scope of Work STEAM.EDU SSA KC MSAP Funding Cari Kupec
