2 Presentation Overview Port of Vancouver Master Plan Introduction City of Vancouver, Columbia Waterfront LLC and Port of Vancouver are all key players in success of waterfront redevelopment. New opportunity: Port of Vancouver Master Plan. City partnership includes city-owned real estate in the transition zone north of railroad berm, as well as emphasizing downtown connectivity. 25 Lessons Learned The best urban environments come alive when the community s civic and commercial activities are addressed holistically Planning initiatives advance by favoring accomplishment When progress is made visible, consensus around progressive design is easier to achieve Contemporary initiatives need not obliterate history, even as they transform the land into a civic amenity Context both the natural and built - is as critical as the site Successful plans are those that correctly envision what is eventually realized by anticipating the needs of those who will build and occupy the finished project
