1 DISTRICT 19A.BC.CANADA District website: THE POWER OF WE Greeting from your District Governor Lion Grace Dear fellow lions, lionesses, leos and cubs: Want to share an exciting news to you from LCI: as on February 6th, we have achieved serving 215,168,451 people in need all over the world! There are 37,410 clubs filed their reports on MYLCI, 600,528 Centennial members, 5,283 Centennial clubs, 26,177 Legacy projects, and 9,858 clubs reporting on Connect with Community. Are you the one reported and included in these reports? By reading your Service Activity Reports, I am impressed with your contributions to the community and your contributions to LCIF, CARE, Lions Foundation of Canada, and other charitable organizations in our province. As of February 27th, we have 1,163 members with net gain of 22 (we recruited 126 members and lost 104), 20,761 lions service hours was reported. We have 1,435,611 members worldwide. This is the last term for our Centennial Celebration, we have only four months to go. Do the best you can to accomplish the Challenges. The world is getting better because of YOU! 6 From your DG: Dear fellow Lions, Lionesses and Leos, thanks to our Convention Chairperson PDG Rita, our Convention is well organized with high demand on registration. The luncheon tickets are SOLD OUT completely with waiting list pending! If you want to place yourself on waiting list for Convention lunch with CS Alex, by all means. I have reserved a table for other Districts and MD19 VIPs, if there are extra seating available by April 7th for lunch ticket, will let you know as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your BIG SUPPORT! Our District Convention's goal is to have surplus that can be used for the benefit of our Zone Chairpersons, GLT, GMT, GST, Lions and leos on leadership development and nurture quality leaders for our future. There are full page ad., half page ad., quarter page ad. and business card ad. for your choices. For those that have already been committed, my heartfelt thanks to your support! It is not too late to submit your Advertisement form for the deadline has been extended to March 31st. You can download the form from our district website: Registration is needed for Lions, Lioness and Leos in order to be eligible for participation. Performers can arrive at 6 p.m. for rehearsal/set up. The hotel will provide microphone and sound system BUT no Karaoke equipment. Please check with DG Grace for any further inquiry on the sound system. The Winners from the Contests Night will be performed at the next day Convention lunch. 12 You have to vote for your District Governor, 1st Vice District Governor, and 2nd Vice District Governor. Besides that, you need to vote on out District 19A Constitution and Bylaws Amendment as well as MD19 Council Chairperson and Vice Council Chairperson for Voting Delegates Information for District 19A Lions: The Certified List w/ Eligible Member Count Report shows the number of members in each club within your district that have been enrolled in the club for at least one year and a day, as of the first day of the month last preceding the month during which your convention is held. Use this list to determine how many delegates from each club in good standing are entitled to vote at your upcoming convention. You will be receiving it from MD19 office in March. Delegates of clubs with unpaid balances due Lions Clubs International (LCI) and MD19 cannot vote Delinquent dues may be paid and good standing acquired up to fifteen (15) days prior to the close of credential certification, i.e. April 13th as such closing time shall be established by the rules of the respective convention. Any payments received less than 15 days prior to credential certification will not change the voting status of the club. Please follow your normal payment instruction procedures. Proof of payment must be sent to international headquarters and MD19 office at once so that the clubs receive proper credit. All clubs must have their semi-annual dues paid in full prior to be certified at District Convention to be held on April 28th. Delegates (See Article IX, Section 3 of International By-Laws) Each chartered Lions club in good standing in the association and its district (single, sub and multiple) shall be entitled in each annual convention of its district to one (1) delegate and one (1) alternate delegate for each ten members who have been enrolled for at least one year and a day in the club, or major fraction thereof. Each certified delegate present in person shall be entitled to cast one (1) vote of his/her choice for each office to be filled by, and one (1) vote of his/her choice on each question submitted to, the respective convention. Eligible delegates must be members in good standing of a chartered Lions club in good standing in the district. Replacement of delegate and alternate delegate provisions are provided for in Exhibit A, Rule 5 of Standard Form District Constitution and By-Laws.

CONNIE LECLEIR-MEYER INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR Connie LeCleir-Meyer from Mondovi, Wisconsin, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association s 100th International Convention held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, June 30 through July 4, Director LeCleir-Meyer is a senior training program manager. A member of the Altoona Lions Club, and a Lion since 2000, she has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, district governor and district and multiple district GLT coordinator. In recognition of her service to the association, Director LeCleir-Meyer has received numerous awards, including an International Leadership Award and an International President s Award. She is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to her Lions activities, Director LeCleir-Meyer has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the American Legion, National Association of Professional Women, Boy Scouts of America and her church choir. Director LeCleir-Meyer s husband, Michael, is also a Lion. This is the first time that 19A lions partnered with Canadian Cancer Society and fundraised for Pediatric Cancer. The Monopoly Affair on January 27 and raised over $58,000! Thanks to the support of the four sponsoring Lions Clubs: Vancouver Chinatown, Vancouver Legacy, Vancouver Chinatown New Century, and Vancouver Pacific. Thanks also to Vancouver Shaughnessy, Vancouver Metropolitan, Vancouver Midas, Vancouver Diamond, Vancouver Galaxy, and other Lions clubs that I may overlooked. 16 February 18th Chinatown Spring Parade was a memorable event even under the cold weather. We were so blessed to have a sunny day so that we could all matching with the lions clubs' and our District 19A banners. Kudos to Vancouver Cathay New Century Lions and their cubs, Vancouver Chinatown Lions, Vancouver Galaxy Lions, Vancouver Midas Lions, Vancouver Northern Star Lions, Vancouver Pacific Lions, Vancouver Shaughnessy Lions, Vancouver Templeton New Century Lions, Vancouver Chinatown Lioness, Vancouver Burrard Lions, Vancouver Diamond Lions, Vancouver Diamond Campus Lions, Vancouver Marpole- Grandview Lions, Vancouver Metropolitan Lions, Burnaby Host Lions, Burnaby Moscrop Leos, and also lions friends and families forming a distinguished team and distributed 2,000 custom made lions red pockets to the children along the sidewalk. Thanks to PP Alan Chan for all the ordering and shipping arrangement. Thanks to Centennial Coordinator PDG Rita and her co-chairing team, Vancouver Templeton New Century and Vancouver Diamond Campus Lions Clubs members for all the arrangement from poster design to decoration at 8 a.m. Kudos to PDG Rita for making this parade come true even though we were told by the higher level that Centennial grant was not available after we had ordered everything! It was an excellent exposure of our Lions image to the public under the lovely weather. Another success of the Image in Action and the Power of WE! Page 16

17 How did this Leo demonstrate leadership skills? He joined Leo in 2014 and was participated in the board since then. He was elected as President Advisor/Treasurer for , club president for and He was awarded Club President's Award for and under his leadership, the club was awarded Club Excellence Award from LCI for Leo Jeffrey has proven to be a responsible, honest, accountable, and trustworthy leader of his peers. He knows how to collaborate and to support his team. He is always wearing a pleasant smile, performing a positive role as a club president and is very considerate to offer opportunities to his team members to develop their leadership skills. How did the Leo show a superior record in implementing successful Leo service projects? Pres. Jeffrey received Exception Service Award (Moscrop 2016), Leo Service Award (District 19A 2016) and High-five training certificate holder. He was the runner-up recipient of the Leo of the Year in District level. Under his leadership, he helped middle conducted over 28 service activities and fund-raisers such as shoreline clean up, spotlight on children, Big Bike ride for Heart and Strokes Foundation, Blind night, etc. He also led the members and joint forces with other Leo Clubs for service and fundraising projects. He was in the Leo Convention committee team every year since On October 21, 2017, he and his club members worked closely with the hosting club, Burnaby North Leo and held the first independent Leo Convention with Leo Grant of USD2,000 received from LC. How did the Leo make contributions to the development and growth of the Leo Club Program? On membership drive, President Jeffrey and his board successfully recruited over 100 members. He also encourage board members to attend leadership training organized by the District. He filed half term reports in details requested by the District Governor, file MYLCI membership records and Service Activity reports on time. He is now also promoting a new Omega Leo Club that will be formed in April/May this term. How did the Leo demonstrate distinct achievements in community or school activities outside the Leo Club Program? He was the Junior Instructor at UBC Geering Up Summer Camps, August 2016 and Junior Instructors at UBC Geering Up Weekly Club ; He participated at Teach knowledge of STEM and being mentor of students ( age varies from kindergarten to high school ). He volunteered in Better Business Bureau (BBB mainland BC), August He worked in the office of BBB, update database, call client companies, etc. He was Director of Communications of Moscrop Business Club and won the best speaker in Moscrop Dragon Den He participated at the Ambassador of Young Investor Program, co-founder and president of Moscrop Phone Photography Club. For School Academic Awards: Honor Roll for 2015, 2016, and Member of Moscrop Math Club : Top student for Math Challenger 2014, Distinction Award in Pascal Math competition 2015, Distinction Award in Fryer Math competition He was awarded Moscrop Exception Service Award with service hours over 120. On Principle's List, he achieved straight A's, He had the highest overall mark and performance in class for top student marketing He was nominated by the teachers committee the Moscrop Exemplary Citizen Grade 11, He was team caption of Moscrop Secondary Dragon Boat Team and won gold medal in 2016, silver medal in 2017 in Dragon Zone 500 and won silver medals in Concord Pacific for 2015, 2016, Moscrop all-star award for 2015, He jointed BURNABY NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE (BNH) and in Participant of Youth Leadership (L2) of BNH : Being a change agent within and outside the community, by observing and recognizing ways to be involved in the immediate and long-term needs of the community through Fundraising, Event Planning and Management and Fundraised $1407 in the Taste of Nature Photography and Art Show and $203 in Halloween Pumpkin Party. He joined AIR CADETS Air Cades Arrow Squadron (currently Level 4), Member of Junior Ground School, Member of Squadron Public Affair Team and Publish Squadron Newspaper quarterly. 18 What We Do With Your Donations In 2018, we will fund up to 45 fee reductions for students attending the Northwest Lions Leadership Institute in Vancouver B.C. MD19 Lions can apply for a $200 fee reduction for the May 2018 class. Go to for information and forms. We have already received USD1,000 grant from them for our District Leo Convention (USD500) and the GLT Training trip to Zone A-4 in April (USD500).
