2 Instructor, April 23rd and 24th Dr. Lawrence Simon, M.S. Author of the books Murder by Numbers: Perspectives on Serial Violence (2002) and Mortal Desire (2012) Dr. Lawrence Simon, psychologist, is a nationally recognized expert on sexual deviance and has been asked by law enforcement and legal staff to serve as a consultant on numerous cases involving crimes of a sexual and explicit nature. Dr. Simon has interviewed and conducted research on hundreds of cold-blooded killers and violent sexual offenders within the Federal Bureau of Prisons as well as the Alabama and Florida Department of Corrections. He has conducted research investigating personality differences, specific weapon selection conducive to multiple homicides as well as psychological motivations of serial sexual homicides. Dr. Simon received his Master of Science Degree from Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale, FL). He then received his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Forensic Pathology at the APA accredited Carlos Albizu University located in Doral, FL. While attaining his doctoral degree, he was employed as a child investigative specialist with the Broward County Sheriff s Office and successfully resolved hundreds of alleged abuse cases. For his efforts, he received the Grand Cordon Achievement Award for Investigations. Dr. Simon offers a unique perspective of the violent mind and the minds of sexual predators. Sexually Deviant Serial Killers Both of our instructors will offer a detailed examination into the world of sexually deviant individuals, specifically serial killers, and provide a glance into the darkest corners of humanity and the perverted mindset and actions of sexual predators. Participants will be exposed to the evolution of violent and non-violent sexual deviance including, but not limited to the following topics: Necrophilia, lust murder, sexual sadism/masochism, voyeurism, exhibitionism, beastiality, and pedophilia. Participants will also be advised of the background of the serial killer phenomenon, the criminal investigative analysis, linking serial crimes together, a geographic perspective on serial cases and the latest findings on cold case research. WARNING: This course is highly explicit in nature and may be offensive to some.

3 Instructor, April 24th and 25th Dr. Carl Jensen Director of the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies The University of Mississippi Dr. Carl Jensen is the current Director of the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies at the University of Mississippi and a Senior Behavioral Scientist (adjunct) at the RAND Corporation. He previously served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for twenty-two years. During this time, Dr. Jensen worked as a field agent in the Atlanta and Cleveland Divisions, a Forensic Examiner (Cryptanalysis) in the FBI Laboratory and an Instructor/Researcher in the Behavioral Science Unit (BSU). He also founded the Futures Working Group, an organization dedicated to developing ethical and effective strategies for the future of policing. Upon his graduation from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1978, Dr. Jensen served aboard the nuclear fleet ballistic missile submarine USS George Washington Carver and then as an aide to the Commander of Submarine Group Five. In addition to his Bachelor s degree, Dr. Jensen earned a Master s degree in Sociology from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. He is the author and co-author of numerous articles, books, and book chapters and has lectured throughout the world. It is currently comprised of nearly 200 members representing agencies spanning across the Southeastern United States, including local, county and state agencies in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida and several other states.
