TBD vs. TBD (1 p.m.) The Big 12 champion Oklahoma men s tennis team will begin its quest for an NCAA national title this weekend, as it takes on New Mexico State in the first round of tournament play Friday at 4 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center. NORMAN REGIONAL By virtue of the No. 1 overall seed, the first in program history, the Sooners are hosting first and second round play at the Headington Family Tennis Center. Oklahoma will be joined in Norman by Northwestern, Harvard and New Mexico State. Oklahoma has now hosted a regional in six straight years and every year of head coach John Roddick s tenure. TICKETS Single-session tickets for the NCAA Regional are currently available. Fans can purchase tickets online at SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU Athletics Tickets Office at GoOU. Adult tickets are $5, youth (ages 3-18), senior (55+), OU Students with valid ID and groups of 10 or more are $3 each. FOLLOW LIVE Can t make it out this weekend? BIG 12 CHAMPS AGAIN Last weekend the Sooners claimed their third Big 12 Championship in the last four years with a pair of wins at the Big 12 Championships in. After receiving a first-round bye, Oklahoma topped Texas 4-3 in the semifinals round to advance to the final where it would face Baylor for the fourth time this year. In the final, Oklahoma outlasted Baylor to win 4-3 and claim the Big 12 conference title. BATTLE TESTED Despite playing perhaps the most difficult schedule in the nation, the Sooners have racked up a record of 24-2 this season. Oklahoma has 18 wins over teams ranked in the ITA top 30 and nine wins over teams ranked in the top 10 including four wins over No. 2 Baylor and a win over No. 3 Virginia.

Alvarez became the first Sooner ever ranked No. 1 in singles two weeks ago and is back atop the poll after picking up two top-five wins during the Big 12 Championships. GOING DEEP The Sooners depth has been instrumental in their success. Currently, four Sooners are ranked in singles while three doubles teams make the poll. In singles, sophomore Andrew Harris joins Alvarez in the top ten, sitting at No. 7 this week. Oklahoma has been nearly untouchable in the top two singles spots so far this season. Alvarez and Harris have combined to go 38-4 in dual play at the top spots with a 20-0 mark at No. 2 singles. Both players are unbeaten in Big 12 play with Harris at a league-leading five wins and Alvarez with three. The Aggies went unbeaten in conference play and have won their last four matches. Friday s match marks just the third time this season Oklahoma has played an unranked team. New Mexico State does not currently have any players ranked in doubles or singles.
