1 MINUTES OF THE NATIONAL FASTPITCH COACHES ASSOCIATION GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING December 9, 2006 J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort, Tucson, Arizona Chair Lacy Lee Baker, executive director of the NFCA, brought the business meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. and introduced other people assisting in the business meeting; Rhonda Revelle, NFCA President; parliamentarian Linda Wells; Kirk Walker, second vice president (minutes for the meeting). 1. Credential Report. Ms. Revelle reported that 823 were registered for the convention and that a quorum of 274 was needed to conduct business. The quorum was established. 2. Convention Rules. Ms. Baker asked that everyone refer to the convention rules, which were given to them at the meeting. The convention rules were passed with no opposition. 3. Reports. It was noted that the officers reports and complete financial report could be found on page 44 of the convention program. 4. Committee Elections. Ms. Revelle recognized members who were elected to various NFCA committees. A. University, Division II Representative, and Kathyrn Gleason, Michigan State University, Assistant Coach Representative. 6. National Fastpitch Coaches College. Ms. Baker recognized the NFCC in its sixth year of educating coaches. Ms. Baker and Sharon Drysdale, NFCC Director, presented certificates to those coaches who had achieved star status in the program. Nineteen coaches were awarded Four Star Master Coach awards. 7. Recognition of Convention Staff. Ms. Baker recognized members of the NFCA staff in attendance at the meeting. 8. Consideration of Proposed Amendments. A. All Levels. Proposal No. 1. To recommend to the NCAA rules committee that Rule 6, Section 13 (eight run rule) be eliminated. NOT MOVED B. Division II Membership. Proposal No. 2. To recommend to the NCAA that the eight hour non traditional workouts be used in any manner. NOT MOVED C. Division III Membership. Proposal No. 3. To change the final NFCA Division III poll to closely reflect where teams finish in the NCAA tournament. NOT MOVED D. High School Membership. (1) Proposal No. 4. To recommend to the NFHS softball rules committee that the pitching distance in high school be changed from 40 feet to 43 feet. NOT MOVED (2) Proposal No. 5. To recommend to the NFHS softball rules committee to allow players to wear metal cleats. NOT MOVED E. Affiliate Membership. Proposal No. 6. That the NFCA recommend to the NCAA rules committee changes to Rule 10, Section 4d. NOT MOVED Hall of Fame Inductees. Kris Herman, NFCA First Vice President, announced to those in attendance that George Wares of Central College, Henry Christowski of Simpson College and Judy Groff of American International College will be inducted into the NFCA Hall of Fame at the 2007 NFCA
5 Convention in Las Vegas. It was also announced that Dee Abrahamson will receive the NFCA Service Award. 10. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 9:34 a.m.
