Visit State University Scholarships- All three state universities offer merit scholarships that students automatically apply for when they apply to the university. The three schools also offer separate foundation and departmental scholarships for the students can apply for once admitted to the university by filling out a separate scholarship application. Arizona State University- Departmental along with merit scholarships are offered. Depending on class rank, GPA, and ACT/SAT scores, students could receive President s Award $9.000 annually, Provost s Award $7,500 Dean s Award $2,750. Students can find other ASU scholarships by visiting Northern Arizona University- Northern Arizona University offers a Presidents, Dean, and a Merit scholarship. These three scholarships are merit based, and are offered for eligible students after they are admitted to the program. Students can also fill out a general scholarship application to see if they are eligible for NAU Foundation scholarships. For more information visit: University of Arizona- Offered merit scholarships include the Wildcat Excellence and National Scholars Award. The Wildcat Excellence Award is for students with high grades and ACT/SAT scores. This
2 scholarship is offered to eligible students after admittance to school. Students can search other University of Arizona scholarships at Maricopa Community College President Scholarship- Students that are in the top 20% of their class, and at the time of application have tested into at least ENG101, MAT 120, and CRE 101. This scholarship covers the tuition for a Maricopa Community College. See your counselor and you can also visit: HUNDREDS OF SCHOLARSHIPS, ONE APPLICATION! The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the Fall 2015 semester. Foundation scholarships are privately funded opportunities open to all Maricopa Community Colleges students and in some cases, non-maricopa colleges and universities as well. Arizona Musicfest 2015 Scholarship- Arizona Musicfest is pleased to announce the fifth year of the organization's Scholarship Program, which awards generous scholarship funds to an Arizona high school senior pursuing a college-level instrumental performance degree. Applicants must be Arizona residents graduating in 2015 and enrolling in a college-level instrumental performance program, with an emphasis in classical music, before December 31, The deadline for submitting the Scholarship Application is April 6, 2015.The 2015 award amount will be $2,500; paid directly by Arizona Musicfest to the recipient's school of attendance. 3 ASU Latino Partnership Scholars-Chicano Scholarship- Award is between $2,500 and $5,000. Deadline is March 1, For more information, visit: AZ Earn to Learn- You save $500- You earn $500 for tuition and other college expenses per academic year. This program can provide face-to-face financial coaching. For more information visit BigSun Scholarship- The scholarship for the BigSun Organization has a deadline of June 19, We are proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. The successful applicant will be currently involved in athletics in some capacity, either for their school or for their community. For application and more information please visit Chinese American Citizens Alliance Scholarship- This scholarship is offered to six graduating seniors of Chinese descent valued at $600 each. Scholarship is based on scholastic/academic achievement and involvement in school and community activities. See Mr. Pappalardo for an application. Deadline is March 21, City of Avondale Individual Development & Education Assistance Program- This program was created to assist lower income individuals of all ages in achieving improved financial security through access to post-secondary education, financial literacy and goal-oriented case management. Program benefits- Matching contributions up to $2,000 for college, university or technical school tuition. Financial literacy education. Student financial aid workshops. Eligibility Requirements- City of Avondale Resident, Meet Household income requirements, enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical school, contribute a required amount toward own tuition costs. Provide eligibility verification documents. For students interested contact the City of Avondale IDEA Program Coordinator at College Sports Recruiting Scholarship- Sports is a more than wins and losses and while we are committed to helping athletes find opportunities to play sports at the college level, we believe the most important thing is getting a college education. As an organization we are proud to award a $1,000 scholarship to a college student who best represents a true leader in sports and life. We encourage all current or future college students who competed in a sport at the high school level to apply for the College Sports Recruiting Scholarship. The winner will be selected by the CSS Recruiting Scholarship Committee. 4 Google Global Science Fair- This is for all high school students. You, or your team of two of two or three, must create either a two-minute video or 20-slide presentation giving an overview your project and embed it on the Summary page of your project submission. Award for this scholarship is $50,000. Deadline is May 13, For application and more information visit: Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards- Seniors of Hispanic/Latino descent that has at least a 3.0 GPA can apply for a scholarship that could be awarded up to $3,000. More details and information on this scholarship can be obtained through Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste Scholarship- Our mission is to provide scholarships to undergraduate students that are pursuing a college degree. Our scholarships are available to students who plan to attend an accredited university, community college or technical institution this upcoming academic year (Fall 2015). The eligibility is limited to students in the Southwest Valley, from the school districts of Agua Fria UHSD and Tolleson UHSD.The scholarship criteria require students to be of Hispanic heritage, to be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in Fall 2015 or a part-time student in Fall 2015, if also working, have a minimum high school or college semester GPA of 2.5, performed volunteer work and be a legal resident of the United States. If awarded a scholarship, recipients must volunteer at one Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste fundraiser in the upcoming academic year (Fall 2015 & Spring 2016). I m First Scholarship- $2,000 four-year renewable scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors who will be first-generation college and are matriculating to a College Partner institution. Scholarship winners have the unique privilege to serve as student bloggers on I m First. This is for current high school seniors. For more information and application visit: Law Office of Michael Cordova- The Law Offices of Michael Cordova is proud to offer our annual scholarship to one Arizona high school senior who has the admirable aspiration to continue on to higher education at an Arizona community college or four-year university. The scholarship recipient will demonstrate academic success and exhibit leadership skills. Due to the high cost of education, a scholarship can help ease the burden of a student who has the desire to attend college. It is an honor and privilege for us to participate in an endeavor that will help the winning recipient succeed in accomplishing that venerable goal. In June of 2015, the Law Offices of Michael Cordova will present one high school senior a $1000 scholarship award for academic achievement. For eligibility, applicants must plan to attend an Arizona community college or an accredited four-year university during the academic year with a minimum of 12 credit hours completed for each semester; earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale; and submit a 250-word essay explaining why it is important to pursue higher education. Must have a minimum of a 21 ACT Math score or 520 SAT Math and 22 ACT English or 530 SAT Critical Reading score. Benefits of the NROTC- Free college tuition, 100% employment upon graduation, unlimited travel opportunities, 30 days paid vacation earned annually, excellent medical/dental benefits. National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators Scholarship- For more information visit: Deadline is March 13, Odenza Marketing Group Spring Scholarship - $500 1 Award (Deadline: March 30, 2015) To be Eligible a student must: Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater. Applications can be found by going to: QuestBridge- According to Questbridge.org- Did you know that academically outstanding low-income students, attending a selective college can actually be cheaper than attending a local university or community college? Despite this, only 34% of these students apply to selective colleges, according to a recent study conducted at Stanford University. The 2014 College Prep Scholarship is opening in mid- February. The College Prep Scholarship helps students become successful applicants to the nation s most selective colleges by giving them the tools they need to prepare an effective application, and showing them that a top college education is possible through the strong financial aid offered by these schools. 6 The American Legion Department of Arizona- The American Legion offers a number of scholarships and other resources to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. There are opportunities for everyone, including kin of wartime veterans and participants in Legion programs. There are 40 scholarships available of $1,000. Deadline is September 17, For more information visit: United States Marine Corps Naval Reserve Officer NROTC Scholarship- This program was established to educate qualified young men and woman for service as commissioned officers in the unrestricted line Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve. Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of our web site: Wolverine-Knight Scholarship- This is an excellent scholarship opportunity for students to apply for, as it s limited to students in the district. Award ranges from $500- $2500 or a laptop computer. See Mr. Pappalardo for an application. Deadline is second Friday in April. WOLVERINE-KNIGHT FOUNDATION- EXCELLENCE-IN-ART CONTEST CRITERIA- RULES 1. Junior and senior class art and photography students are eligible. 2. Artwork may be submitted in the following areas of study: a. Painting/Watercolor b. Drawing c. Sculpture/Ceramics (3 dimensional) d. Mixed Media/Print Making/Other e. Photography 3. Submit two-dimensional work on flat stock up to 24 x Mat or mount on white or neutral gray tag or poster board. Black mounting may be used for photography. 5. Artwork must be original. Copying is not acceptable. 6. Artwork must be created solely by the student. 7. Fully complete the Entry Form. Please indicate in the space provided whether you are a junior or senior. Place the Entry Form in an envelope and attach to the outside of the work. DELIVERY Deliver art work to the District Office on or before March 26.
