First-assisted in hand, wrist, elbow, microvascular, and general orthopedic trauma cases, including covering 5 days of trauma call per month in an incredibly busy trauma location Assisted in managing a surgical schedule consistently averaging over 45 scheduled cases per week Albuquerque, NM UNM Hospital, Emergency Department June July 2014 Provided care to patients collaboratively with attending physicians in the main emergency department, addressing issues such as septic shock, GI bleeds, acute surgical emergencies, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal in the only academic emergency department and level I trauma center in the state Independently attended to patients in a Fast track environment overnight, seeing long bone fractures, minor MVA s, cellulitis, abscess and peritonsillar abscess, and other level 3 s, 4 s and 5 s Performed medical screening exams at the triage area, being the first provider point of contact for patients, starting the workup of major complaints and navigating patients away from the emergency department if they had a non-emergent complaint., LOCUMS Pine Hill, NM Pine Hill Health Center May June 2013 Provided full service primary and urgent care at a tribally run clinic on the Navajo Nation with former Emory PA program faculty, approximately 40 miles from the nearest 25 bed hospital Attended to patients brought in by EMS for initial evaluation and transfer, including DKA, acute abdomen, and chest pain patients.
