5 CPR CERTIFICATION / CPR RE-CERTIFICATION BLS (CPR) course offerings can be found on the LVHN intranet. On the LVHN homepage, select Departments, Non-Clinical, EMI. Select course type, choose date, and use the registration form to enroll in the course of your choice. Newly hired employees who need CPR certification will continue to attend Orientation CPR. Classes are held monthly at EMI. All participants must be pre-registered for courses and we encourage all Unit Manager/PCS s to forward confirmation s to the orientee to ensure that they are not turned away. If the orientee is not preregistered they will not be able to attend the class. If you need any additional assistance, please call EMI

6 Navigations: Your Orientation Journey Safe Traveling: A Culture of Safety National League for Nursing Basic Proficiency In Medication Administration for RNs Assessment On February 20, AM to 10AM Division of Education 1247 S. Cedar Crest Boulevard, Learning Center A & B You have been scheduled to complete the NLN Basic Proficiency in Medication Administration Assessment There are two versions of the test Adult and Pediatrics. You will take the assessment that best reflects your experience. All Newly Licensed RNs/Graduate Nurses will take the Adult version of the assessment. This nationally validated and reliable testing tool measures the knowledge and abilities necessary for registered nurses to safely administer medications to a general adult or pediatric (depending on the test version) population. The format of the computer based test is 70 item, four option, multiple-choice. The test (both the adult and pediatric version) includes three categories of questions: o Calculations o Principles of Medication Administration o Drug Effects Three subset scores and an overall score are provided to the test taker upon completion of the assessment. An overall score of 80% is required for successful completion of the assessment and prior to the RN administering medications to patients. If an overall score of 80% is not attained, opportunity to retake the assessment will be provided. You must wear your LVHN Photo ID in order to receive a test code. No calculators or smartphones may be utilized during the assessment per NLN Test Administration Guidelines. Paper for calculations will be provided A resource to assist you in preparing for this Assessment: may be obtained from the LVHN-Cedar Crest Library, -, 8:30 to 5:00 PM. Resource needs to be obtained from Library Staff Assessment Technologies Institute, Pharmacology for Nursing, Version 5.0 and ATI Nurses Notes: Pediatrics Core Content at-a glance. Books may be checked out for three weeks with a three week renewal. Pre-hires will be required to show their hire letter. 6
