1 Elder-friendly Design Campaign Supportive Work-team for Active-ageing Network (SWAN) Vocational Training Council Background According to the Hong Kong Population Projections , the population of elderly persons aged above 65 in Hong Kong will increase from 0.98 million in 2012 to 2.56 million in 2041, comprising 30% of the total population of 8.47 million. According to a study by Hong Kong Silver Market Alliance in 2010, elderly people will spend one-third of their income on leisure and travelling. Many leisure and travel sectors over the world have foreseen and identified the soaring spending power of the silver hair market and formulated strategic plans to provide new products and services well-catered for the needs of the retired elderly.
