3 INVESTMENTS IN THE AIR FORCE Replace the CF-18 fleet with 88 advanced fighter aircraft. Acquire space capabilities to improve situational awareness and targeting Acquire new C3 systems. Replace the air-to-air tanker transport, utility transport and multi-mission aircraft fleets. Invest in medium altitude remotely piloted systems Modernize fighter aircraft air-to-air missiles. Upgrade air navigation, management, and control systems. Acquire new aircrew training systems Recapitalize existing capabilities until the arrival of next generation platforms. Sustain domestic search and rescue capability. Operationalize the new fixed-wing search and rescue aircraft fleet.

5 Maritime Helicopter Project CH148 Cyclone SSE # 54 Current Stage: Implementation Acquire 28 CH148 Cyclone helicopters (Sikorsky) to provide a shipborne maritime helicopter capable of conducting Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Search and Rescue (SAR) and utility missions. Project includes ship modifications, training, facility upgrades and In-Service Support. Contract Award Nov 2004 Capability Delivery in Blocks Block I Ini?al Surveillance, ASW and U?lity (delivery in progress) Block II Fully Opera?onally Capable Release to Service 24 Aug 2017 Initial Operational Capability 2018 In-Service Support end 2038 (est) 5
6 CP140 Aurora AIMP Block III & IV / ASLEP Projects SSE #54 Current Stage: Implementation To structurally life-extend and operationally upgrade 14 CP140 Aurora aircraft in order to support operations to Blocks I and II upgraded legacy and communications and navigation systems. Block III and ALSEP are underway and will upgrade all mission and sensor systems concurrent with structural life extension. Block IV will add a wideband SATCOM capability as well as Link 16 and a selfprotection suite. ASLEP and AIMP Block III Initial Operational Capability in 2014 with Full Operational Capability by 2019 AIMP Block IV Initial Operational capability in 2019 with Full Capability in early/mid-2020s 6
7 Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft (CMA) Initial Operational Capability in early 2030s Full Operational Capability by mid 2030s Estimated Life Expectancy 2060 SSE # 49 Current Stage: Identification To equip the RCAF with a long-range manned Maritime Patrol, Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capable, Command and Control, Communications and Computers (C4) and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to complement existing and future ASW and C4ISR capabilities such as JUSTAS, CH148 Cyclone and spacebased solutions. Intent is to pursue opportunities for innovation with industry with a view to building on the strengths of and lessons learned from AIMP 7
8 Multi-Fleet Air Traffic Management Avionics (MFATMA) SSE # 52 - Current Stage: Options Analysis This project will upgrade RCAF aircraft avionics systems in response to civil and military regulatory changes. Aircraft will receive upgrades to GNSS, IFF, Radios, Antennae, and Cockpit Displays to allow continued operations in both Civil and Military controlled airspace. Contract Award Mul?ple IOC 2023 (or earlier) FOC 2025
9 CH146 Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) Current Stage: Option Analysis To extend the CH146 operating life to mid 2030s through the replacement of obsolete avionics with an integrated digital systems architecture. Project will ensure operational relevance, regulatory compliance and interoperability with allies. Contract Award 2020 IOC 2024 FOC 2026
10 Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) SSE # 55 Current Stage: Option Analysis To extend the operational life of the CH149 to at least 2040 and provide capability improvements to enhance its overall mission effectiveness. Defini?on Approval 2019 Contract Award
11 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) SSE # 50, 91 Current Stage: Option Analysis To provide all-weather, persistent, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, target acquisition, and precision strike capabilities in support of CAF domestic and expeditionary operations. Definition: Spring 2019 Contract Award: IOC: (1 line of tasking available for operations) FOC: (3 lines of tasking, aircraft, infrastructure & personnel in-situ)
12 Snow and Ice Control Capability Recapitalization (SNICCR) SSE # 54 Current Stage: Option Analysis To provide a modern and reliable snow and ice control (SNIC) fleet of vehicles, in support of domestic airfield operations. It will replace 96 pieces of aging SNIC equipment at six RCAF bases. Implementation May 2018 IOC November 2020 Contract Award August 2019 FOC May 2022
13 Strategic Tanker Transport Capability (STTC) SSE # 47 Current Stage: Identification This project will replace the existing fleet capability, including strategic airlift, air-to-air refuelling and VIP transport after a potential life extension. The platform will provide air-to-air refuelling for both domestic and expeditionary coalition operations, while complementing the strategic airlift capabilities of the CC-177 fleet. Definition 2020 Contract Award
14 Utility Transport Aircraft (UTA) SSE # 48 Current Stage: Identification The UTA (CC-138 Twin Otter replacement) will provide support the CAF s mandate to provide utility airlift of personnel and equipment. This entails the ability to operate in extremes of weather and temperature from unpaved, austere airfields with no support facilities.. Definition 2020 Contract Award
15 Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) SSE # 53 Current Situation: Options Analysis Address the modernization/optimization of the ab initio Pilot, ACSO and AES Op training to Wings Standard. FAcT is to implement a relevant, flexible, effective solution which modernizes/optimizes the training system to meet current and future CAF requirements. The solution must continue and improve upon the training currently provided by the expiring NFTC and CFTS services contracts as well as the training currently conducted at 402 Squadron.
