Exchange of technical information on current national systems for mine detection and clearance and experience in peacekeeping operations on the occasion of a regular Land Group 9 meeting. Remarks: Invitation to Partners to attend an unclassified session of a scheduled NAFAG topical meeting. Purpose of the workshop will be to exchange information on available technical options to maintain and upgrade ageing tactical fleets, with a special emphasis on employment of aircraft in new (peacekeeping) missions. Agreed in 1996 PWP as 1997 event. The aim is to promote adoption by Partners of NATO techniques for the collection, transport and testing of suspected contamined material. Important potential application in humanitarian/civil emergency operations. May be extended to include actual demonstrations of procedures. Meeting 26 Aug Aug 1998 Remarks: This activity, sponsored by NAAG Land Group 7 Working Group 2, is afollow-on to 5 september 1996 workshop. The purpose of this activity is to agree commonly acceptable civil/military standards for nuclear accident protection, detection and containment for personnel assisting in response to low-level radiation emergencies. May provide basis for agreement among NATO and Partner nations on common standards for related equipment and material. Remarks: Follow-on to the 1997 NAAG Workshop on Ammunition Interchangeability. It is hoped that this will take place in a Regional Test Centre. The meeting will concentrate on the application of existing STANAGs to the testing of both small arms and ammunition. Partners will be invited to propose themes for future meetings.
