Participants should also be aware that most contractors and mining companies require company medical exams as part of their hiring process including audio metric testing. Northern College will provide students with a personal trainer who will instruct them basic fitness routines in order to improve their strength and endurance along with nutritional counselling to better prepare the students for the physical aspects of working in mining. ALCOHOL AND DRUGS The diamond drilling environment can be very hazardous. All workers senses are required in order to be keenly aware of his/her environment at all times. The Instructors and Program Coordinator will have full authority to restrict anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs from participating in training on any given day, this includes prescriptions. Anyone undergoing medical treatment should include a letter from their treating physician that they are capable of participating in the training and operating equipment while receiving treatment.
