9 Southwest Strategy A collaborative effort among Federal, State, and Tribal entities to restore and maintain the cultural, economic and environmental quality of life in Arizona and New Mexico. SWS is comprised of land managers, resource experts, and leaders representing federal, state, tribal and local communities. DoD is represented on the SWS by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (ESOH) (DASA-ESOH). One of the objectives of the SWS is for the partners to learn about the missions, projects, and objective of their sister partners. One of the primary benefits of the SWS is for the partners to harmonize their own missions and mandates with the missions and mandates of other entities. 10 Texas Environmental Partnership TXEP started out in 1997 the first DoD Pollution Prevention Partnerships. Won 1998 Presidential Closing the Circle Award for Environmental Excellence in Government. TXEP used as national model to establish partnerships in numerous other states (e.g., Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Hawaii). 14 Region X Partnerships Washington Sustainability Partnership (WSP) Inter-Service Regional Support Group Commander Buy-In Partnership Charter Alaska Forum on the Environment (AFE) Brings together all DoD Services, State Regulators and key State Legislators. Federal network for Sustainability (FSN) Promotes cost-effective, energy and resource-efficient operations across all federal agencies. Strives to improve understanding of the relationships between energy use, economics, and environmental impact. Five initiatives currently under way: electronics product stewardship, EMS, green power procurement, greening federal copier paper, and green building design. Winner of the 2005 White House Closing the Circle Award in the Environmental Management Systems category for Defense Supply Center Richmond.
