A distinctive unit insignia (DUI) is authorized for MEDDAC Korea, effective 1 October The description and symbolism of the design are as follows: DESCRIPTION A Silver metal and epoxied device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height, consisting of a flattened oval shape bearing a Maroon Medical cross charged at its center with a heraldic fountain (a blue disc displaying four bars wavy), superimposed above the cross a traditional Taeguk symbol Proper and flanking the entire emblem, two Asian style dragons combatant, i.e. facing each other with erect posture/stance. The entire shape is bordered at its base by a Maroon, tri-parted scroll inscribed: VICTORY, THROUGH, HEALTH in silver letters. SYMBOLISM Maroon and silver are the colors for the U.S. Army Medical Corps. The Maroon cross is a traditional symbol for Army Medical and is a symbol of healing. The fountain a series of blue wavy lines represents the Han River, a defining landmark of Seoul, Korea. The two dragons represents Yongsan, meaning Dragon Hill and symbolizes the home of the original Seoul Military Hospital from The two part Taeguk represents the continued partnership and alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea. The motto Victory Through Health reinforces the healthcare provided to the Pacific Victors and their families, ensuring a medically ready force. 2.
