Students must be at least 16 years or older and plan to attend or currently attend college or graduate school, this includes adult students as well. Applicants may study in any major or plan to enter any career field at any accredited college or graduate school. A short essay is required. The award is $1,000 and the number of these awards vary. Visit and enter code MO115 for updates on this award. $1,500 Scholarship Detective Launch Scholarship Deadline: May 31, August 31, and December 31 The Scholarship Detective Launch is meant to help students pay for undergraduate and graduate school. Applicants must be high school, college, or graduate students (including adult students) who are US citizens or permanent residents. Students may study any major. The funds may be used to attend an accredited U.S. institution for undergraduate or graduate education. The award is $1,500 and this amount is given to two applicants per year. AAUW Educational Foundation Career Development Grants American Association of University Women (AAUW) Educational Foundation Dept ACT Drive Iowa City, IA Phone: x60 Fax: Deadline: December 15 The AAUW Grant is meant to support college educated women who need additional training to advance their careers, re enter the workforce or change careers. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold a bachelor s degree, and enroll in courses at a regionallyaccredited program related to their professional development, including two and fouryear colleges, technical schools, and distance learning programs. Special preference is given to women of color, AAUW members and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in a nontraditional field. 5 Acton Institute Awards and Scholarships 98 E. Fulton Street Grand Rapids, MI (616) Calihan Academic Fellowships Deadlines: October 15 AND July 15 (every year) The Calihan Academic Fellowships provide scholarships and research grants of up to $2,500 to future scholars and religious leaders whose academic work shows outstanding potential. Applicants studying theology, philosophy, economics, or related fields must demonstrate the potential to advance understanding in the relationship between theology and the principles of the free and virtuous society. Such principles include recognition of human dignity, the importance of the rule of law, limited government, religious liberty, and freedom in economic life. Fellowships and grants do not exceed $2,500. Fellowships are not renewable but all applicants are eligible to reapply. Calihan Travel Grants Deadline: Rolling Applications must be received at least six weeks prior to the travel date. The Calihan Travel Grants provide financial assistance to students who have been selected to present, at an academic conference, research relevant to themes promoted by the Acton Institute. Such themes include the integration of theological ideas with principles of limited government, rule of law, religious freedom, and economic liberty. Grants are also open to students who need to travel to, and perform research at, archives or libraries or to attend educational conferences that involve the above themes. Travel grants do not exceed $2,500. Grant amounts take into account the costs of travel, lodging, registration, and other associated conference or research expenses. Other sources of funding are also considered. Novak Award Deadline: December 15, 2015 Named after distinguished American theologian Michael Novak, this $10,000 award rewards new outstanding scholarly research concerning the relationship between religion, economic freedom, and the free and virtuous society. This award recognizes those scholars early in their academic career who demonstrate outstanding intellectual merit in advancing the understanding of theology s connection to human dignity, the importance of the rule of law, limited government, religious liberty, and freedom in economic life. 6 Addiction Resource Scholarship Jessica Foley Deadline: May 31 st AddictionResource.com awards $3,000 in scholarships each year to students who share their vision for an addiction free world. We award $3,000 in scholarships each year to students who share their vision on how to end substance abuse and addiction. The winning applicants will be determined based on the essay content, style and originality. The application is free. Adora S. Jones Ministerial Trust has been established by a school teacher, and a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her scholarship is meant to provide aid for those in college or seminary for the purpose of studying ministry. The scholarship is limited to those studying for ministry in the following traditions: Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, or Congregational Churches. Applicants must have been an Iowa resident prior to college entry, and currently enrolled in college or seminary, and actively pursuing studies toward preaching the Gospel. Awards will be from $700 $1500 each, depending on the amount available and the number of applicants. 7 The AG Bell Scholarships recognize students with moderate to profound hearing loss who have academically excelled. Students must be members of the NAACP, U.S. citizens, and attending an accredited U.S. college. Undergraduates must attend college full time, while graduates may be full or part time students. High school and undergraduate students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, while graduate students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Box 851 Valley Forge, PA (800) Ext kim.wilkins@abhms.org Deadline: May 31, 2016 The International Baptist Seminary Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to seminarians of ethnic heritage who are members of an American Baptist congregation. The student's church pastor or regional staff person must endorse the applicant and verify that he/she is a member in good standing. Applicants for this scholarship must be from an ethnic group whose first language is other than English and must be preparing for ministry in the United States. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants must demonstrate need for IBS scholarship assistance to cover educational and related personal expenses, and have the intent and possibility for completion of the course of study. The course of study must be pursued at an accredited institution listed in the Higher Education Directory or the Membership List of the Association of Theological Schools unless otherwise approved by the board; and should lead to a degree or certification appropriate to or required by the chosen Christian ministry, M.A., M.T.S., M.Div., or other seminary degree from an accredited seminary. Financial assistance is also available for D.min. and Ph.D. candidates. A scholarship between $1,000 to $3,500 per academic year is available to full time students. A one time scholarship of $1,500 is available to full time D.Min. students. A scholarship of $3,500 is available to full time PhD or ThD students after satisfactory completion of the first year of 10

11 study. A one time renewal is available. Scholarship aid will be granted to summer school students upon application; amounts to be determined in each case. Partial scholarship aid will be granted to part time students; amounts to be determined in each case. Students must maintain a grade point average of "C" or better in order to maintain eligibility. Students must be legally blind in both eyes and admitted full time to a postsecondary academic or vocational program. A minimum GPA of 3.3 is required, except in extenuating circumstances. Students who work full time and attend school part time may apply for the John Hebner Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship recipients are expected to attend a national convention if they are over 18. Graduate fellowships are monetary awards made to American Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional degree seeking students, who meet all eligible criteria. The United States Bureau of Indian Education federally funds the fellowship program. The fellowship amount varies from year to year, depending on the availability of funds and unmet financial need. To be considered for an AIGC fellowship, the applicant must be: Pursuing a post baccalaureate graduate or 11

12 professional degree as a full time student at an accredited institution in the U.S.; Able to demonstrate financial need; An enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian or Alaska Native group, or provide documentation of descendency (possess one fourth degree federally recognized Indian blood). Kofsky offer an Annual Scholarship to help meet the costs of an undergraduate or a graduate education. The scholarship of $1500 is given annually, with the winners being drawn in summer In order to apply for the scholarship, students should submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words, addressing the following topic: Describe what safety precautions and traffic laws should be emphasized in order to prevent some of the millions of car accidents and other motor vehicle accidents every year, and how you would plan to educate the public on the importance of these precautions and laws. A brief paragraph describing the school program you are attending or are planning to attend should also be included. This scholarship is open to students pursuing degrees or majors in any field.
