2 Paul Consiglio Memorial Scholarship On May 16, 2006 the Blue Springs School District said goodbye to a longtime leader and dear friend. A fourteen-year member of the Blue Springs School District Board of Education, Paul Consiglio saw the Blue Springs School District through times of achievement and growth. One of Consiglio s greatest accomplishments was the creation of Valley View High School, the school district s alternative program for students grades 9-12 at the Hall- McCarter Education Center. He had a passion to reach more students. He was a courageous, passionate, and determined man who has made a difference in the lives of many students throughout his time serving patrons of the Blue Springs School District. Consiglio battled multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer, since 1997 and fought the disease for an incredible number of years. He will be remembered for his strong and kind-hearted spirit. In addition to serving as a school board member, he and his family owned and operated Mr. Steak in Independence for more than 30 years. Consiglios s four daughters are all graduates of Blue Springs High School and his grandchildren are current students in the district. Paul lived his life by the three C s; Courage, Compassion, and Commitment and his memory will live on in all that share in his vision. This scholarship fund has been established in the name of Paul Consiglio. Students graduating from Valley View High School are eligible to apply for a $ scholarship in honor of Paul Consiglio, a true friend to all students and education. 3 Valley View Seniors are eligible to apply for the Paul Consiglio Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship winners will receive $ for continuing education expenses. This may include: four year colleges or universities, community or two year colleges, and career technical training programs. Checks will be issued to the educational institution at the time enrollment information is provided to the scholarship committee. All applications are due no later than the last Friday in February. Complete applications may be submitted to your high school counseling office. Please include the Blue Springs Education Foundation scholarship cover page.
