2 - 1 - For the first time, the «Centre International de Formation Européenne» has organised its Mediterranean summer university in Italy (Rome) from September 25 th to October 1 st, This programme was organised in collaboration with Centro italiano di formazione Europea, and Università La Sapienza, Unesco Chair. Breakfast was not possible in this place but a little café, just at the corner of the street, proposed an Italian breakfast, that the students and lecturers took either in the bar or take away in the garden of the hotel. The lecturers specially appreciated to have their café in such a nice environment. The foreign students together with the lecturers were accommodated in the guest house of the University La Sapienza, very well located near Termini train station and not far from the university. They had at their disposal very comfortable conditions with air conditioned in each rooms and a private little garden very appreciated in the evening, after a long working day. This place was also with easy access to the common transportation in order to reach the city centre. All the conferences were hold in the building of the Faculty of economics of the University La Sapienza and a commun lunch took place in a restaurant very close to the university. So, the group was very close all the day and this very comfortable logistics was perfect to continue discussion even during lunch time. Nevertheless, the timing was organised so that everybody had enough time to visit Rome during the evening after the academic program, and all the began very friendly from the beginning of the program. The academic program was structured around the very important issue of Migrants : borders and security, medical assistance of the refugees, unaccompanied minors, etc. It was approximately 30 hours of lectures and discussions to permit to the students to be more and more involved. They were conducted in English by international experts from Italy and the rest of Europe and an interactive activity at the end of the programme was proposed as an illustration of this working week. The group was constituted with about 20 students, from Italy and from abroad and, in addition, some of the Italian students of La Sapienza University took part of the programme from time to time. Finally, it was a large group of candidates that finally were present representing 9 different nationalities. They immediately formed very friendly relations. Thanks to this very great atmosphere introduced from the beginning of the programme, the group created immediately a very interesting cohesion, between the students together but also with the lecturers. All the participants enjoyed a rich extra programme which helped them to savour the culture of this very historic an famous city. A day trip, very appreciated, was proposed in the famous historical and cultural site of Ostia Antica. All the candidates completed the program successfully and received a certificate of participation. Additionally, those students who presented some supplementary work after the session acquired ECTS Credits. This programme was also the opportunity to propose, after the session, a regional alumni meeting. Some of the students of the summer university programme chose to continue two days more to meet some alumni and discuss about their carrers. We can consider that the program has been widely praised with a level of satisfaction of 85%. The candidates have all noticed a very large satisfaction regarding : - relations with the staff, - administrative assistance offered before and during the program - cultural and tourist activities offered outside the program - conduction of the educational program, etc. The main improvement proposed by the students was to plan more discussions after each presentation, even if they agreed that all the presentations were different and for some of them no debate was necessary. But all the students appreciated a lot the last interactive sequence, managed by Laura Negura, and all the students were involved in a very interesting game about the reality of the migrants integration. In conclusion, all candidates have been very satisfied with the program and we can confirm that the program has achieved great success for both students and teachers and, we hope that the partners have been fully satisfied and ready to start again. CIFE warmly thanks all the teachers and collaborators of the University La Sapienza and Centro Italiano di formazione Europea for their involvement, their confidence and their friendship.

13 In continuation of the summer school, a regional alumni meeting was organized for the first time in Rome. More than 20 alumni from several countries was present and took part in the academic, social and touristic activities with avery interesting debate about BREXIT was organized in the office of Centro Italiano di Formazione Europea. 18 Impressions After CIFE s Summer Programme On Migration By Laura NEGURA SPATARU have just returned to Romania after a few days in Rome, Italy, where I was invited to share my experience on human rights law and European Union law in a summer/autumn programme organized by CIFE (for those who do not know about CIFE or CIFE s summer programmes, please see in collaboration with Università La Sapienza and Centro Italiano di Formazione Europea. The programme organized in Rome (September 25, 2016 October 1, 2016) had as topic Migrants in Europe: Borders, Human Rights and International Security, and it was really cross-cultural (reuniting students from Austria, Bresil, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kosovo/Albania, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, and lecturers from Italy, Estonia and Romania actually my colleague Hamed has an incredible life story and is difficult to come under just one country from Iran, settled in Estonia, working in Norway). My presentations have addressed the issue of human trafficking as a new modern form of slavery (where I have tackled the irregular migration issue) and EU s commitments to solve it. At the end of the programme, we have organized a role-play by dividing the students in four teams (migrants, activists, opposers and Italian authorities). I must confess that the role-play was great, the students have impressed me with their capacity of using the information received and getting into the skin of characters (I have to underline that some of them were actually graduate, with experience in human rights). I am so sorry they did not agree to record it it would have been a great tool for other students (I attach however a few photos in order to have an idea I hope my students and colleagues will not mind). Additionally, I have told them a few things about Issues Without Borders platform (who was created from the passion for human rights law) and showed them a video about it. The students were very interested in learning more and I really hope we will collaborate in the future. As for the organizing team, I have to admit that I know Marie-France Perdigon, who is the manager of the summer university programme, for many years and our collaboration has always been great. I have also really loved our Italian host, Cristina Giudici, who is professor at the Unesco Chair in Population, Migrations and Development at Università La Sapienza in Rome and the President of Centro Italiano di Formazzione Europea. After the summer programme, Marie France and Cristina have organized an alumni meeting that was great, giving us the alumni the possibility to reconect and to socialize (I am also an alumni of CIFE after attending different summer programmes this was the manner I have discovered the CIFE). At this alumni meeting, I was invited to be part of a debate panel about BREXIT. Marie France s proffesionalism and thoroughness, the high level of the students and lecturers, as well as the partners and locations chosen, are arguments that make me each year to follow CIFE s path and to deliver lectures in different parts of the world. I really hope that next year I will be invited again (in another summer programme or again in Rome, especially that I made a wish at the Trevi Fountain and I have to get back to Rome again)! Congratulations CIFE for doing such a spectacular work with your summer programmes! You should be really proud of your ambassadors!
