3 Dear Residents, From the Wellsville BOE and Administration The Wellsville Central School District s mission statement continues to guide our budget decisions, to prepare our students to be successful, contributing members of their communities through excellence in education. We strive to provide programs and services necessary for educating our students in a more competitive and challenging world. We believe we have accomplished this goal through a process that considers the growing needs of our students, as well as the ongoing financial challenges of our community and taxpayers. As responsible stewards of public funds, we are proud to announce a 0.5 % decrease in the tax levy. This is the second year we have proposed a decrease. The tax decrease is due to a budget reduction of 0.8% from last year, which was in large part due to refinancing a construction bond at a lower interest rate. We are proud of our staff members who are dedicated to educating our children and ensuring their safety. We are grateful to a community that is supportive of our schools and students. We encourage you to be informed about the budget. Join us for our public budget hearing on May 8, at 6 p.m. in the Secondary School Room 212A, and please exercise your right to vote on the budget in the Wellsville Secondary School Lobby (river side entrance) on May 15, 2018, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. We also encourage you to contact the district office ( ) with any questions you may have regarding the Wellsville Central School District Budget At-A-Glance Proposed Budget $28,994,163 Budget Decrease -0.8% Proposed Tax Levy Decrease -0.5% Budget Hearing -- Tuesday, May 8 6 p.m., Secondary School, Room 212A Vote -- Tuesday, May 15 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Secondary School Lobby (Riverside entrance) Voting Qualifications A person shall be entitled to vote at this meeting and election of School District Officers and upon other matters, which may be brought before such meeting, and election who is: a) A citizen of the United States; b) 18 years of age; and c) A resident within the District for a period of 30 days preceding the election.
